EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description The Griffin Technology is a fittingly stylish accessory that powers your iPod on the road, so you can listen to great music all the way to the horizon and back, without ever worrying about battery failure. The PowerPod not only keeps your iPod running, but also charges the iPod's battery pack as it plays Designed especially for the iPod 2 year warranty | Amazon.com Review Music fans love to take their iPods on the road, but the road offers one major problem--no charging outlets. Enter the Griffin PowerPod auto charger, which plugs into your car's cigarette lighter to provide a consistent power source. The charger powers the iPod whether it's playing music or in standby mode, so users don't have to suffer through any charging downtime. It's also intended to complement the iPod's sleek, modern design, with a dimpled white and grey body. The PowerPod comes with a 4-foot FireWire cable that connects to your iPod's dock connector for charging. Owners of the original 1G and 2G iPods can instead connect the default FireWire cables that came with their models. Features and Performance iPod owners will warm up to the PowerPod in a manner of seconds. It's ready to use right out of the box--just plug in the FireWire cable and start charging. A small red LED light indicates when the unit is working, as does the iPod's charging icon in the upper right corner. During testing, the PowerPod refreshed about an hour's worth of playtime in a few minutes while music was playing. Owners of other iPod auto accessories such as FM transmitters--which draw their power from the iPod's battery--will find the PowerPod particularly valuable, as it keeps their iPods juiced up over long road trips. Simple and efficient, the PowerPod is a must for iPod-equipped road trippers. --Rivers Janssen Pros - Charges iPods during road trips
- Works in standby mode or while playing music
- Compatible with original 1G and 2G iPods and newer iPods with dock connectors

CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 41 reviews)
| NOT FOR NEWER IPODS This WILL NOT WORK with an ipod video or a iphone or an ipod touch ( I tried it with all) I bought this to charge my iphone and it seemed like it had the correct attachment, however the other end is firewire which WILL NOT charge the iphone.....the iphone will say incompatible. I don't know why it matters but it does. Maybe if you have an old black and white ipod this will work August 01, 2008 | | Long Treck Ahead? Always handy to have if you are playing your i-pod in the car on a long journery or you just forgot the recharge at home! July 30, 2008 | | Excellent This is exactly what I was looking for, works great!! My dog chewed on the one I got with my iPod originally & had looked for a replacement. This is the only one that worked with my first generation iPod. April 21, 2008 | | Worked ok for a few months.. now doesn't work at all The charger gives a nag screen each time you plug it in (1G Nano or 1G Video) that is a minor inconvenience, but the real problem is that it has completely stopped working about 4 months after we got it. It shows that it is charging my ipod and then the ipod shows that it is fully charged, but once it is unplugged it dies a few minutes later. The ipod can still be charged from other sources so it's not the ipod's fault. Also, watch out if you turn off/on your car while it is plugged in - on a new car with no other charger problems this seemed to cause my ipod to lock up. Also, not a problem with other chargers. I'm glad we just paid a few dollars for this. March 23, 2008 | | Very handy This is very handy and works great. The picture doesn't show it but it comes with the cord that plugs into the charger and the ipod so you have everything you need in the car. January 07, 2008 | |
