The Heroin Diaries (the soundtrack to Nikki Sixx's addiction memoir of the same name) sounds nothing like the music that catapulted Nikki Sixx into the limelight (and, presumably, the dank and dark underground of addiction) with Mötley Crüe more than 20 years ago. And the music suffers for it. Perhaps Sixx didn't want to romanticize addiction and ill behavior by unleashing a series of rockers that would send fists high in the air and let the spirit, at least for a moment, soar while the listener struggled to better understand the seductive lure of dependence and decadence. (If anyone cares that much--this is rock & roll, after all, and not Oprah.) Instead, Sixx dresses the songs in the trappings of contemporary pop so that "Tomorrow," "Life is Beautiful" and "Accidents Can Happen" sound like lite imitations of the lesser bands that have captured the public's imagination in the wake of the Crüe's inexplicable absence from the recording studio. ("Permission" may even be Sixx's first stab at getting airplay on CMT.) The true rockers, far too slender in number, are half-realized and pallid; the lyrics are overly diaristic (yes) and fail to live up to Sixx's vintage street sophistication ("Dancing on Glass" and "Kickstart My Heart"). DEFINITLEY A GREAT ALBUM!!! 
This cd by Sixx A.M. is an amazing album. It is very profound, and beautifully made. Sixx is a genius and James vox are definetlay killer. Dj Ashba brings great riffs to this instant classic rock album!

They Even Rock Live!
I couldn't be more impressed with Sixx:A.M.'s live performance, since that is often the proving ground of many bands. I have seen 4 other Motley concerts, so I should know that these guys aren't just a spin-off or some disgruntled band member trying to "stick it" to the rest of the band. The sound was great, and I am happy to say Thanks James, and all the band, for making my son's first concert a wonderful experience. Good luck on the rest of your tour, can't wait to hear more from you!

Sixx "solo" should be a success 
I've been a Motley Crue fan since Too Fast For Love in '83, really enjoyed Nikki's book, and now am a big fan of the Sixx AM CD as well. Sixx is a fantastic songwriter and highly underrated. This isn't like a Motley record or like the 58 band either; it's a personal, introspective, modern rock. There are some real rockers, some ballads, and some stuff in between, but it's all good. Only Nikki Sixx could make a concept album about himself and pull it off without sounding pretentious or full of BS.

SIXX:A.M.- Music as it was intended to be!

When it comes to music, I am a fan of all types. When I first got this CD, I didn't know what to expect. However, as Xmas in Hell started, I knew I was in for a treat. These guys are geniuses. This is by far the BEST CD THAT I HAVE BOUGHT IN YEARS!!!!
Van Nuys is an unbeliveable track full of truth. In fact, this whole CD is full of truth. In an unbeliveable way, this CD is very inspirational!
Life is Beautiful is such an unreal song. The music and lyrics are amazing.
Girl with Golden eyes- I love how this as well as most of the music on this CD flows! Beautifully written and composed. Nikki coming in and reading from the diary is such a great touch that just made an awesome CD even better.
Courtesy Call- what can I say, a work of art.
If you are a fan of rock music, whether you love Motley Crue or have never heard of them, you will love this CD, I guarentee it. I never thought I was going to get exactly what I hoped for, but never believed it could happen. Music that really means something and you never get tired of listen to it over and over.
YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG WITH BUYING THIS CD.
I can't wait to get to see them live at Crue Fest!
