EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description The most current, authoritative, and comprehensive pharmacology book for medical, pharmacy, and other health science students. Widely respected for its clarity, comprehensiveness, and organization, this pharmacology course book presents the essential concepts that students need to know about the science of pharmacology and their application. Focuses on the basic principles of each drug group as well as the clinical choice and use of drugs in patients and the monitoring of their effects. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 34 reviews)
| Good reference, not for teaching I'm a medical student, currently taken pharmacology during my pre-clinical years and i don't recommend this textbook. Its voluminous, poorly written, and not logically organized. Its really only good as reference book and that's it. If you want to learn pharmacology buy a Lippincotts Illustrated review of pharmacology or Golans principle of pharmacology! September 27, 2008 | | Great book Prompt delivery and book came in new, although the packaging was very messed up. Could possibly stuff the package to prevent damage. Satisfied with my order though - thanks. September 15, 2008 | | Still the Best Basic Text Over the years I have purchased many editions of this classic text and have never been disappointed. Years ago I sat in Dr. Katzung's classes when he was a young man (and I was younger!) This book is invaluable because of its varied content--1. background physiology which is so important when one needs to review and keep up-to-date on new developments, 2. comparisons of chemical structures as new products come onto the market and 3. summary tables showing the different characteristics of the various drugs in any drug group and classification. This is the one clinical pharmacology text I wouldn't be without. April 03, 2008 | | A tough read This is one of those books where you have to read a paragraph again and again to actually get what it's saying. It's got great topics, if you can sift through the words! I don't love the writing style. February 20, 2008 | | Basic & Clinical Pharmacology While most of my students would not find this excellent work "basic", it is an outstanding adjunct to any healthcare professional's library. The chapters are well structured and the information is up to date. The illustrations have improved over the years and are mated well with the text.
In all, this is a worthwhile text for anyone studying pharmacology or a useful resource. May 14, 2007 | |
