EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Conversations with God Book 1 began a series that has been changing millions of lives for more than ten years. Finally, the bestselling series is now a movie, starring Henry Czerny (The Pink Panther and Clear and Present Danger) and Ingrid Boulting (The Last Tycoon). Produced and directed by Stephen Simon (producer of Somewhere in Time and What Dreams May Come) and distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films and Fox Home Entertainment, the theatrical release is set for October 27, 2006. The movie is the true account of Walsch (played by Cierny), who went from an unemployed homeless man to an "accidental spiritual messenger" and author of the bestselling book | Amazon.com Blasphemy! Heresy! Who does this man think he is, claiming to speak directly to God?! Jesus did it, Muhammad did it, the Jewish prophets did it, but none of their Gods had the sardonic wit or raw verve of Prophet Walsch's God. Neale Donald Walsch isn't claiming to be the Messiah of a new religion, just a frustrated man who sat down one day with pen in his hand and some tough questions in his heart. As he wrote his questions to God, he realized that God was answering them... directly... through Walsch's pen. The result, far from the apocalyptic predictions or cultic eccentricities you might expect, turns out to be matter-fact, in-your-face wisdom on how to get by in life while remaining true to yourself and your spirituality. |

| A Trip to Pleasure Island This book offers the same thing that Pinnochio was offered at Pleasure Island. Don't waste your money. July 18, 2008 | | These books can change everything! This is in regard to ALL of the Conversationwith God books.
Firstly, somewhere in the first couple of books of the old testament (Deuteronomy, I think) God orders the wholesale slaughter of every man, woman and child in Jericho. No, this is not the God that I care to believe in, commune with, nor even acknowledge for that matter. Secondly, Jesus proclaimed that "lo, the kingdom of God is within you." That said, why would we think it impossible that a man can't know, via personal experience, the Creator? I'm quite sure Jesus did, so did The Buddha, Paramahansa Yogananda, Mahavatar Babaji, and a host of others. Thirdly, if each person is in fact an extension of God, and that individuation does something "wrong" (by our standards) how can God by being angry or judgmental towards that individuation (i.e. himself)?
We have had and continue to have all manner of ethical, religious, moral, political, philosophical, and governmental doctrines and we still have war, starvation, neglect, abuse, hate, greed, violence, poverty and abject misery. Our fascination with belief systems and doctrines is the point where a lot of contempt is bred. I don't need any more of that. I don't want a wrathful God, I want a loving one, I don't want a judgmental God, I want an understanding one and I certainly don't want a vengeful God, but a joyful partnership with him/her. After all, how can I be expected to offer love, kindness and understanding to my fellow humans when God doesn't show me the way?
What Neale has offered is a joyful, liberating, and timeless way to view the world, those living in it and most importantly, the Creator. Neal's books have opened my eyes and my heart to the possibility, in fact the near certainty - that we do have God all wrong, and that we desperately need to develop a new cultural story.
July 16, 2008 | | BEST BOOK EVER Conversations with God is a fantastic spiritual book that must be read in its entirety. If you pick it up, flip through it and choose different sections to read, it won't make sense. I have read all of Neale Walsch's books, and those who find this to be negative or "against God" are too rigid and entrenched in their own narrow views of God to give this a chance.
If anyone out there is seeking an answer to the question, "What does it mean that God is love?" will certainly find the answer here. If anyone wants to hold on to their learned beliefs that God is like the devil or like man and will punish us when he's angry and send us to burn in an everlasting fire for our sins, then that person will not be able to fathom a God of goodness and love and eternal life.
This book lets us realize, if we haven't already, that we CAN have our own conversation with God on a daily basis if we will only listen.
Thanks, Neale, for all that you have taught me.
June 28, 2008 | | Inspiring and thought provoking... I have always been attracted to philosophical ideas and spirituality. Conversations with God is my latest foray into the subject. I find myself greatly inspired by it. There are a few quirks about it that leave me in some doubt about its validity, but as a book in and of itself, it is very enjoyable and kept me hooked.
I don't recommend it for those who are already involved in the Christian faith. The book is based on a philosophical construct that is very different from that of traditional monotheistic Christianity. It's apples and oranges, and to try debating the two philosophies would only be a mere waste of energy. The fact that the God of the book is a pantheistic deity should be a hint as to why.
Read this if you enjoy learning about religious concepts in general and want a great book to get caught up in on a rainy day. Don't read it if you are searching for serious insights about a faith that you already subscribe to... you'll only be disappointed, as it doesn't claim to be based on any religion in particular. May 28, 2008 | | COMPLETELY CONTRADICTS THE BIBLE There is alot of good stuff in these books for you to think about and learn from. BUT, IT SAYS INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE THINGS THAT ARE SUPPOSEDLY OK WITH GOD, SUCH AS CHILD MOLESTATION for example. I was very excited about this collection but half way through book 1, I threw them all in the recycle bin. The movie however was excellent and extremely uplifting.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU RENT THE MOVIE AND FORGET ABOUT THESE BOOKS. The movie does not delve into the things that GOD is supposedly telling him that he writes in his books. DON`T WASTE YOURE MONEY ON THESE BOOKS !
