A Series That Gets Better & Better
I say this every time a new book comes out in this series, but this is the best one yet. Skye is a wonderful character, and I felt like I got to know Skye a lot better in this latest book. I was especially pleased that she has a spiritual side. And would'nt these books would make for a terrific TV mystery series on the Family or Hallmark channels?

good midwest fun
I enjoyed this book, perhaps because I grew up in Downstate Illinois. It is a dependable series for a great escape during these trying times.

Fun book - love the series ! ! !
This is another in the series and it is fun, hilarious, realistic about relationships and just a wonderful, funny, stress-relieving series that makes one's day better for reading the story - It makes a stressful day at work so much better to come home and be able to read one of the Scumble River books. Thanks to the author for making my life more fun and helping with the stress of working with incarcerated, mentally ill adolescents.

Denise Swanson
Denise Swanson's books are very entertaining. I would recommend them to anyone that enjoys a good laugh and some of the best characters I have read in a long time. You feel like you are right there.

Deadly cooking contest
Skye Denison, a school psychologist, is not known for her culinary skills. In spite of that, Skye's mother May enlists her help in entering a cooking contest using May's recipe. One of the contestants dies in a most unusual way and Skye begins to use her investigative skills to help her boyfriend Wally, the local police chief, solve the murder. Added to this, one of the students from Skye's school disappears and Wally seems to be hiding some kind of secret from her. These plots are separate at the beginning of the book, but eventually they begin to intertwine and become part of one situation. As usual, Denise Swanson spins an interesting tale of small-town Midwestern life with interesting characters and a good mystery.
