EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description "If you are looking for a celebration of life in a small space, turn to the French garden for the answers."—The Evening Standard
French country gardening has experienced a renaissance in recent years. While the great French heritage still thrives, its traditions now provide inspiration for fresh delights and creative expression, as vividly demonstrated in this beautifully photographed volume.
The book reaches into every corner of France, from Normandy to the Riviera, from Picardy to the Pyrenees, revealing in exquisite detail the full extent and exciting diversity of the modern French country garden. A magical and intimate "grandmother's garden" on the ancient Via Aurélia combines fruits, herbs, flowers, and vegetables; "gardens for the five senses" focus on sensual stimulation; "natural" gardens protect local ecosystems; and formal gardens incorporate witty and subversive variations on the traditional pattern. 236 color illustrations. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 3.5 based on 3 reviews)
| French Country Gardens I was looking for a book which would give me the name of flowers to plant in a French Country Garden. This was not it. November 18, 2008 | | The French Country Garden This book is worth the investment. Photographs are of high quality and there are plenty of them. Did find the book not an easy read and believe more than a couple of pages could have been devoted to each garden. Just when you want to look around a corner to see what might be next, next was another garden. All-in-all a good book and if I ever get to France will have a better idea of where to start garden touring. March 31, 2008 | | Beware-this is a reprint! This is a reprint of a hardbook in softcover form with a new cover photo. The content is wonderful but I already owned the hardcover and thought it was a "new book". July 30, 2006 | |
