EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description This practical guide facilitates a thorough dissection of the dog to learn basic mammalian structure and specific canine features. Emphasizing anatomical knowledge, each chapter presents self-contained guidance on the dissection of a specific body part, allowing the reader to perform these dissections in any sequence preferred. Descriptions are based on the dissection of embalmed, arterially injected adult dogs of mixed breeds, and the anatomical terms used in the book come from the Nomina Anatmica Veterinaria.
- Content is organized by specific body part to give readers the ability to work in any sequence.
- An introductory chapter explains commonly used terms in anatomy in great detail. It also discusses the moral implications of dissecting dogs for canine gross anatomy, as well as the procedures and guidelines used in dissection.
- A list of figures and tables with page numbers is included in the front of the book.
- A list of references is provided in the back of the book to provide opportunities for further study.
- New CAT scans are provided to show internal anatomical features that can only be seen by this method.
- More than 300 illustrations - including new and updated drawings - depict each dissection procedure, step-by-step.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 11 reviews)
| Great service, fast shipping, good condition The book came as described, which was new! and in a timely fashion. Service was great, I plan on buying more books through Amazon. September 01, 2008 | | vet student's opinion This was the required dog dissection guide for my Gross Anatomy class last year. The diagrams are nice, the information is good, and it is a useful quick reference tool. However, the dissection instructions are tedious and hard to understand at times (read them carefully). Overall I would recommend this book. If you want more detailed information on animal anatomy, then you need to buy a full textbook. December 15, 2007 | | Helpful for a starting guide Really great start to dog dissection but if you want a more in-depth analysis that is also less travel friendly, go for the larger version of this book. September 15, 2007 | | I live with this book.... As a first year veterinary student, this book has become a lifeline at school. Whether it's looking up some unknown body part in Radiology lab, or needing a drawing to further comprehend the lecture, this book delivers. A great feature is it's small size - you can carry it in your bag. I keep a few larger anatomy books at home, but this is such a help. It doesn't have the depth and detail you'll need for everything, but gives a nice, quick summary. September 10, 2007 | | Excellent for veterinary students. I am a current veterinary student and this book is a necessary reference for small animal anatomy courses. It is very informative and covers all of the anatomy of the dog. Most diagrams are from the more expensive Millers Anatomy of the Dog. January 27, 2006 | |
