CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 1 review)

Out of Africa
This book performs the invaluable service of summarizing the state of current studies on modern man's evolution, from both the archaeolgical and paleoanthropological sides, with emphasis on Africa. The field work, genenetic and chronology tools as well as theorizing in this area are advancing at such a dizzying speed that works of this type are essential for the layman if he is to keep more or less abreast of current thinking. Ms. Willoughby perhaps errs, from the layman's point of view, in the space dedicated to extremely detailed disciptions of archaeological sites in Africa. These sections undoubtedly serve advanced archaelogy students well and should consititue an essential reference source for devotees to the subject, but the rest of us would settle for a summarization.
