EYE OPENING, BUT NOT A QUICK, EASY READ
Some have faulted Dr. Cuozzo with being too technical. Not being a scientist, much less an orthodontist, myself I can see why that might bother some people. However, for those who prefer drama, parts of the book do read like a real cloak and dagger drama - and in fact one person was "suicided", evidentaly. :-( Other parts of the book are filled with scientific figures and data. I feel those parts are necessary to establish credibility. A theory is no better than the science behind it. To get a feel for this book it might help to go first to Youtube and and see (mostly hear) the video Neanderthal: Caveman or Human. I personally think this orthodontist is totally credible.

Research Buried Alive
This book was quite a read. I cannot comment of Dr. Cuozzo's research here except to note that it is clear that the Darwinist establishment has done everything in their power to stop him from collecting his data on Neanderthal fossils once they found out that he is a Darwin skeptic. Before he was outed he had no problems and much cooperation from the leaders in the field. After he was ex-communicated from the club, things changed drastically. Even the long letters in answer to his questions stopped. He was excommunicated. Much of the book documents in detail (names, dates, places) how Darwinists have done everything in their power to block any research Dr. Cuozzo has attempted to complete. Darwinists claim that Darwin skeptics do not do research and then insure that they are securely locked out of the lab and museum. Why not let Darwin unbelievers do their research and then critique it. This is the spirit of science. Blocking all attempts by Darwin skeptics to do empirical research is not how science should work

Best book on Paleoanthropology from the Christian side!
Buried Alive is unfortunately one of the few books that a Creationist has put out on this subject of Nanderthal Man that is an actual physical study rather than just recylced information. However, this book gives Creationists hope in this area of study that progress can still be made. As a student who is minoring in Anthropology, I am constantly bombarded by Darwinian evolution in class, but this book has been one of the few resources I've been able to turn to that honestly answers some of my questions about these hominid fossils that have been found.
Dr. Cuozzo makes the book very interesting by sharing personal experiences and by putting actual photos of the skulls that he studied in the book.
There are only two points in which I would knock the book and that is that while it starts off extremely exciting, it begins to be a little bit less interesting as the book progresses. The other point would be that at times the book was extreamly technical, however I think for the most part Dr. Cuozzo did a wonderful job of explaining things through out.
Dr. Cuozzo also does a great job of connecting his findings to the creation account in Genesis and explaining how through his biblical world view he came to the conclusions that he did.
This book also has extensive Research notes included in the back of the book which further explain things if one wishes to look at them while reading. Through out the book other points about creation are discussed which also help the reader work through the book.
Many times Creationists are accused of not doing any "real" science, however the scientific research conducted by Dr. Cuozzo is top notch no matter where you stand on this issue. Perhaps what I enjoyed most about this book was that it provides creationists with a model that lines up with the bible, now this model can be tweaked and studied so long as the evidence continues to lead to the conclusions of this book.
Buried Alive is not an easy read but is still by far one of the best reasources on the subject and I recommend it to all who are interested in the subject. I recommend it to Creationits and Evolutionists alike.

Caveat Emptor
If you are prepared to believe that God created the earth only a few thousand years ago; that the story of Noah and the flood is not a biblical folk tale but verifiable history; that Homo neanderthalensis is not a separate species but was invented by "evolutionist" scientists as part of a world-wide, century-old, anti-Christian conspiracy; that opponents of creationism have stalked the author around Europe with nefarious intent - then this is the book for you.

If you're looking for a sober, scientific treatise on Neanderthals, look elsewhere. This is neither scientific nor very sober.

But it's an amazing book, in the way that von Daniken's books are: amazing that an educated man can believe and write such garbage.

This good doctor makes an unwitting case for the theory of the development of modular intelligences and against evolution: His common sense module clearly failed to evolve. This is sad and rather scary stuff.

Kudos!
A great deal of credit must be given to Dr. Cuozzo who is one of a very select few individuals who have ever been allowed to study actual Neanderthal skulls--as opposed to the plaster copies that litter universities and museums around the world.

His studies--from an orthodontic perspective--shine great illumination on the biases and presuppositions that plague much of modern evolutionary science. Biases that still live--yet are rooted in the Victorian "sciences" of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The original skulls and jaws, when studied objectively (and not "assembled" so as to appear deliberately ape-like) show evidence of extreme longevity based Dr. Cuozzo's dental studies and other research which is included in great detail in this book.

Also, the sheer excitement of watching the French government try to shut him down as he threatens to expose some of the misrepresentations and even frauds that he discovers is a great read. Heaven forbid that the Neanderthal tourist industry be threatened as Dr. Cuozzo attempts to excavate the truths which, for so long have been deliberately "Buried Alive"!
