CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 14 reviews)
| Essential Oils Desk Reference I haven't surveyed the whole book as yet, but I know it is exactly what I want to study the good effects that Essential Oils can have. I have attended 2 workshops on Essential Oils and am eager to learn a lot more about their effectiveness on health. I want to make my selection of oils I would prefer to use and for that I have all the info in this book that I will need. Thank you. October 23, 2008 | | Fascinating, Unique and Thorough I purchased this book based upon its review in another book, "The Chemistry of Essential Oils, Made Simple," which is an exhausting review of the subject and excellent in scientific detail. This book being reviewed today is by Mr. Young and an excellent reference source, written in primarily laymen terms, encompassing both basic scientific knowledge regarding essential oils and the romance/lore of essential oil useage. The raindrop technique spelled out in this book can be used in greater moderation by using less essential oil and not applying it neat. I tried this therapy on my husband but diluted the oils about 50/50 because his exposure to neat essential oil is minimal. This created a most relaxing and enjoyable massage that he benefited from for several days thereafter. Moreover, the procedure as the laymen practitioner in my case, removed all the pain in both my hands for several days. The more exposure to these wondrous oils you have, used with caution and intelligence, based upon the medical/scientific recommendations, the more they integrate with your body and work, truly, like medicines without side effects. I have been using essential oils for about four years and would never wish to be without them. There are many books available about essential oils, most of them from a laymen practitioner point of view. They sound to the trained scientific mind like quackery. The two books mentioned in this review, especially the first, would certainly challenge any scientific mind and give cause for deliberate thought. I do recommend todays reviewed book, I also recommend that those with very scientific minds consider the data provided by itself and the mind/body connections referred to, at a later time when this information is better substantiated. For those who consider themselves laymen practitioners, the mind/body lore will prove highly useful information since many "recipes" for specific conditions are provided. I would venture as far as to state that this is one of the "essential" essential oil reference manuals I have read and utilized to date. If you have never used essential oils, I urge you to read several of the most popular books on the subject before using them (authoress Worwood is recommended) or to do so under the tutelage of a well versed laymen/practitioner so that you may acquire a gradual exposure to highly diluted essential oils of pure quality before attempting to use any of them "neat." The quality of the oils you obtain will be as crucial as how you use them. This, too, requires in depth study and analysis of HOW the oils are produced and packaged. October 12, 2008 | | Product highly recommended, excellent seller, prompt delivery The Essential Oils Medical Guide is an important reference for anyone who is interested in using essential oils as remedies for various ailments or simply to maintain a higher level of health. Dr. Gary Young is a well respected researcher in this area and his works can be considered authoritative. He is among the leading contributors to the field of essential oils.
Dr. Marion Ceruti, Ph.D. August 16, 2008 | | Marketing Tool This is simply a marketing tool for the MLM "Young Living Essential Oils" and most of the positive reviews here from probably written by shills of the company. If you buy this book, simply be aware that it is intended to steer you to their products and no give a truly unbiased view of this science. Contrary to loyal customers of this company, there are other places to get quality essential oils - don't be fooled by their rhetoric. April 30, 2008 | | Alternative healing I was impressed with the research that Mr. Young has done, however I was hoping it was different than all the other aromatherphy books that I had bought, but it was just pretty simple. I really am looking for something more comprehensive than this and thought it would be more like a text book. There is allot of sick people out there and we need a book that really goes in depth about healing the patient. I haven't purchased any of the oils that he produces but plan on trying them, I was impressed that he talked about the different levels of distillation, and how much the impact on even just when you harvest the oils and the changes that occur when you do that at different times. Also he talks about the energy of the person involved with the oils and that was impressive when I had just planted flower seeds in my yard and the side of the sidewalk that I did has plenty of flowers but the one my daughter did only has a few and it is quite funny looking but evident of what he was saying about the energy of the person.
