EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Scott Hamilton, Olympic Gold Medalist:
"Through my many experiences with life threatening illnesses and quality of life threatening illnesses, I know the importance of information. Information is comfort. Information is power. Information can save your life. When it comes to Pituitary/Hormonal issues where does one get the information they need? The Pituitary Patient Resource Guide is the only place to get the information you need to truly face these many diseases. It is amazing to me that for an issue this large there are not other places to get the comfort and/or power to save, not just the quality of your life, but maybe your life itself. The Pituitary Patient Resource Guide is the only comprehensive guide for pituitary patients in the world and is an absolutely invaluable source of information not only for patients but also their families, physicians, and all health care providers. It contains information about the PNA, patient resource listings for where to go for medical care, a wide range of articles regarding pituitary disorders, as well as information about the latest treatments and medications available to pituitary patients."
The Publisher:
This book provides the guidance you need to confidently and effectively take on a more active role in maintaining health and seeking out the best medical help when needed. Taking charge requires educating yourself about your condition and learning communication skills to enable you to describe your symptoms to your doctor, ask questions, and negotiate treatment options. Practical steps to improve your relationships with medical caregivers and develop a method of constructive medical decision-making are presented. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 6 reviews)
| 1 in 5 people suffer from pituitary disease! This is the only source for complete information on pituitary disease and all the problems it causes people! Buying this book could completely turn around -- or even save your life. October 08, 2007 | | An excellent source of information This book is what helped me to find useful information on what was an illness that wrecked havoc with my life. I appreciated the fact that so much of the content was written as true medical data. Although that is a little more complex to read it also validated the accuracy of the information to my doctors as I tried to use this to further educate them on pituatary conditions.
As a side note, the Pituatary Network Association is constantly striving to improve their contributions to this cause and they released a fourth edition of this book on their website during 2006. Any edition will be useful but getting the 4th edition will provide the most current knowledge base. Their website is extremely valuable but also having a reference book was a must for me. November 14, 2006 | | Lots of good information I've had a hard time finding information about my tumor on the internet and in book stores. This book answered many of my questions and helped me realize I need to see a more informed doctor! June 06, 2000 | | Great info for all pituitary patients This book was really helpful in understanding the many aspects of pituitary tumors and disorders. There is something for everyone and the articles are outstanding. Highly recommended. May 18, 2000 | | Finally the information I've been looking for! I highly recommend this book to anyone who has been diagnosed with a pituitary tumor. There is SO much excellent and easy to understand information in this book. I've never found another resource that covered so many aspects of being a pituitary patient like me. Great articles, and listings of other resources like doctors that actually KNOW what they are doing. I'm so glad I found this book. April 06, 2000 | |
