Book Description
Synopsis Dr Lola Greene, a food scientist and mother of allergic children, has used her experience and scientific training to put together a practical guide for all. The book will show allergics how to be vigilante and read the labels for declared allergens (which are listed on packaging) and hidden allergens (which are listed under different names or used without listing on the packaging). The book is also packed with tips for managing food allergy at home or away. Furthermore, it will help the undiagnosed sufferers of food allergy and food intolerance to become their own food detectives and begin to find real solutions to their health related problems.

Review
I found a few helpful hints in this book. However, they could be summed up in a 1-page pamphlet. Honestly I would return this if I had purchased it at a local bookstore, and ask for my money back.

The reasons I do not care for this book:
1.) It's badly written and edited; poor grammar and spelling errors abound. If so little care was taken in this regard, how much care was taken with regards to the presented facts?
2.) A lot of space is dedicated to complaining and wishing that food allergens were required to be declared or were declared on labels. I agree. But complaining and wishing do not make for helpful reading.
3.) The examples all pertain to UK labeling standards and issues, not US labeling standards and issues. Since I live in the US, what they do in the UK is not helpful information for me.
