Weight Loss
The USANA program for wieght loss/control is very effective. My wife has lost 15 pounds and I have lost 40 pounds. The weight is staying off. We still drink one fruit smoothie shake in the morning and use the fiber bars and nutrition bars for snacks later in the day. I feel better than I have in years.

The Comparative Guide Convinced Me That USANA Supplements Are Among The Best
I started taking USANA vitamins approximately 2 years ago; now I distribute them. This book seems to lay things out in clear terms. I have heard that it may not be objective. Even if that's the case, I have looked @ the ingredients and manufacturing processes of the other top rated vitamins, and, don't think that they are any better (if even as good) and seem to be about the same price. Some are only sold through doctors or chiropractors. USANA may or may not be the best; but, they are certainly among the best.

The main reason that I take USANA is that the supplements are Bioavailable. Many vitamins do not dissolve quickly enough (20 minutes or less) to be used by the body. To test, place vitamins in a glass of water. If they don't dissolve within 20 minutes or so, they are likely not going to be absorbed by your body.

USANA also manufactures to Pharmaceutical GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes), which is a higher standard than the more basic GMP.

I have found the best bang-for-buck to be the Essentials (a combo of Mega-antioxidant and Chelated Mineral), complemented by the Bi-Omega and Fibergy Powdered Drink Mix (much more fiber than the popular fiber supplements).

I view vitamins as, above all, an insurance policy.

This book helped me to understand that not all vitamins are the same, and, that some of the most popular vitamins may not be fully absorbed. Things are often not as they seem.

Best supplement review guide in circulation!
I was amazed at how thorough the information was in Lyle's book. I started talking to other folks and it was interesting to see the wide range of ratings (and the really bad ratings) on nutritional supplements. Especially how poorly all the name-brand supplements were rated. Without reading this book you really can't be sure if all your vitamin money is going out in the toilet! This supplements book explains all the key concepts of nutrition in easy-to-understand descriptions. I also found the following website very useful for going a little more in depth on related topics such as oxidation and free radicals, low glycemic eating, and how supplementation can help avoid the inflammation diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, etc: DontBeABrownApple.com. The site also has recommendations for the highest rated pharmaceutical-grade supplements in existence!

Sorry I spent my money
I was hoping for a real review. The book seems to compare the top 10 vitamin brand by brochure. I didn't like it!

an excellent guide for consumer
This is an excellent guide for the consumers to choose quality supplements. It gives ratings (1 to 5 stars) to more than 1500 multivitamins in North America. Supplements from Kroger, Walgrees and costco, etc get a very low score of their products. I'm suprised. I highly recommend this book to someone who is taking supplements or considering taking supplements.
