EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description In 1947, the U.S. Army left behind a secret when they closed Ft. Miles, Delaware. A threat so deadly, they buried it 1000 feet down in the Atlantic Ocean. Now, sixty years later, an oil rig drilling off the coast of Delaware has hit something. Within hours, crew members are dying from a mysterious illness that kills unmercifully. On the opposite coast, Justin Flannigan, an estranged epidemiologist is visited by the director of the CDC who convinces him to come to Delaware to investigate the bizarre illness. But shortly after he begins his investigation, he gets another visit. This time from an eccentric old man who claims to know the origin of the deadly contagion, and soon, Justin begins to suspect there is more to it than what first appeared. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour. As the illness spreads to the general population, Justin realizes that this one old man may hold the key not only to his survival, but to the survival of the entire planet. |

| Bill Clem and "Microbe" "Microbe" was the first of five Bill Clem medical thrillers I've now read. Within a month I'd read four more. His plots will hook you instantly. The pace of his novels is fast and exciting. Recommended! August 23, 2008 | | Its ok The book was just ok. The characters were not developed and the back story was never actually developed either. Justin and Melanie were supposed to have loved each other but never really even seemed to like each other. The microbe killed people in warm sunny California and the author never followed up on that part of the story at all. Did everybody die? Did the CDC go to California? The book seemed very simplified and I don't think the ending really tied together anything. Overall, It was a forgettable book. August 09, 2008 | | Microbe Review easy, fast reading..great book to take to the beach, esp. if you go to Lewes Beach, DE...as the book is written about the surrounding area! August 04, 2008 | | It's no Andromeda Strain Definitely underdeveloped and overly simple. Though it is a fast read, the characters are un-engaging and uninteresting. The buildup amounts to a disappointing turnout. The thought behind the story is somewhat interesting, if only the rest of the book lived up to the initial scare in the beginning. I definitely do not recommend this book to anyone who is used to reading the detailed scientific thrillers of Michael Crichton. July 29, 2008 | | Thrills & Chills What a great book! Living in Delaware just made this story come to life. I hope TV grabs Bill Clem's books for movies. We need some upscale made for TV movies.
