CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 1 review)
| Coming Home At first glance, Anne of Green Gables has the appearance of being a girly book full of gossip and impossibly sappy romance. However, from the moment Anne is mistakenly delivered to the Bright River railroad station the story unfolds like the dawning of a new day. Montgomery guides us through five years of Anne's life as an orphan who is grudgingly welcomed to Green Gables of Avonlea.
Ultimately this is a story of Anne finding her place in the community, a universal story that everyone can empathise with. The best quote found in this book comes from page 357, "For we pay a price for everything we get or take in this world; and although ambitions are well worth having, they are not to be cheaply won, but exact their dues of work and self-denial." Books like this should be on the reading lists of every child and adult! January 22, 2006 | |
