EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description David Zid, an ACE, APG certified trainer, has collaborated with orthopedic surgeon, Thomas H. Mallory, M.D., who is afflicted with Parkinson's disease, in the development of a Parkinson's specific fitness program designed to proactively minimize tremors and improve flexibility, stability, balance and strength. Delay the Disease contains colorful photographs of Zid demonstrating each move, as well as recommendations for exercise frequency, modification and how to adjust the workout as one improves. Parkinson's patients participating in Zid's fitness program notice improvement in walking, dressing and maintaining balance. CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 3 reviews)
| Just what the Dr. ordered! This was exactly what I needed. It details a regime to follow throughout the day. April 20, 2008 | | Delay the Disease is user-friendly for the PD patient Parkinson's patients who buy David Zid's exercise book will have no excuse for skipping a workout regardless of where they happen to be. Nearly two dozen routines can be performed while seated-even in tight spaces like an airplane. Doing the Spider on a Mirror(fingertips of opposite hands touching, then releasing a pair at a time)might draw curious glances from other passengers, but they'll likely decide you're just a nervous flier praying for a smooth ride. Unlike other exercise books, routines covered in Delay the Disease don't call for investment in specialized equipment. Stand behind a chair and hold it while you work the knees and legs. A kitchen counter provides support for balance training. The book's design makes Delay the Disease user friendly. Each exercise is illustrated with as many as four pictures in color on heavy paper. Spiral binding makes it easy to hold the book open to the appropriate page. ~Tom P., PD exercise class participant
January 02, 2008 | | Better Quality of Life Excellent instructional book. I was diagnosed in early 2004 with PD and frankly did not have much to look forward to. David and his instructional book changed all of that! I now sit-to-stand and walk with ease. My balance has improved and I even dance again! Friends that knew me before Delay the Disease can't believe the improvement and new acquanitances are are shocked to learn that I have PD! The book has easy to use instructions (with corresponding pictures!) and is seperated into three levels of difficulty. Anyone (at any stage) of PD should try this book! It will improve your quality of life. It did for me! December 28, 2007 | |
