EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Book Description Coping With Erectile Dysfunction was awarded the best consumer book of 2006 by the Society for Sex Therapy and Research. Continuing the momentum of their revolutionary book, Coping with Premature Ejaculation, Michael Metz and Barry McCarthy, two of the nation's most respected sex therapists, bring you the only complete self-help resource on the market for men dealing with erectile dysfunction. Not only is this book the first to address this problem using the most current research into male sexuality, but it is the first to propose a treatment approach that unites medical, psychological, and relationship-enhancing techniques into a cooperative process that couples can work through together. The book begins with an uncomplicated explanation of ED and a discussion of the mythologies that surround much of male sexuality. After describing the integrated treatment approach, the book helps men develop a set of realistic sexual expectations for each phase of their lives and explores the role of their partners in resolving ED problems. Exercises help men assess the nature of their problems. The results of the assessments lead readers to explore medical, psychological, and couples-related interventions. The book closes with a detailed program for relapse prevention. Ultimately, the Metz-McCarthy approach encourages couples to explore their own sexual intimacy as a means of overcoming the problem. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 3 reviews)
| Good book! Well, timing is everything... and isn't always fair. Had I not just completed reading The Hardness Factor before picking up "Coping With Erectile Dysfunction," I would probably have given this book 5 stars.
Metz and McCarthy have done a very good job of showing us the causes of erectile dysfunction along with some fixes (mainly using sexual awareness to overcome the problem).
I've been using the methods in this book, The Hardness Factor, and Exercising the Penis to build up the strength of my erections. All books have contributed to me overcoming the problem. This book, however, is best from the psychological stand point. If you suffer at all in this area, I suggest getting it. April 17, 2008 | | Receives 2007 SSTAR Best Book Award For your information, our book --> Metz and McCarthy, Coping with Erectile Dysfunction: How to Regain Confidence and Enjoy Great Sex --> has been awarded the 2007 SOCIETY FOR SEX THERAPY AND RESEARCH (SSTAR) BEST CONSUMER SEXUALITY BOOK AWARD at its annual international meeting in Atlanta, March 8, 2007. This organization is considered the most respected professional association of sex therapists, researchers, and sexual medicine experts. Michael E. Metz, Ph.D. March 30, 2007 | | Standpoints this book is more from a psychological standpoint of a man. if your looking for something to help you understand premature ejaculation or impotency from a mans point of view its a good book. If your looking at it as a spouse looking for answers then it's a fair book but really doesn't offer the proper solutions. February 28, 2006 | |
