Very informative sleep book
I am so glad that I found this book. This is a great book for any parent to read, whether or not you actually use every piece of advice. I have read The No-Cry Sleep Solution previously, but it didn't really work for our family. I also did not believe in the Cry It Out method, which certainly didn't work for my daughter. This is a great mix of the two. West gives very commonsense advice for sleep problems, in a very easy-to-read manner. My favorite piece of advice was that if your child uses a pacifier and wakes up hunting for it, hand them the binky instead of putting it in for them. That way they learn to do it on their own (something that I should have thought of on my own!) This book is just what sleep-deprived parents need, especially if you are okay with just a little crying for everyone's better sleep habits.

Best book on sleep for infants!!!!
This is the best book for infant sleep I received. It's a common sense approach to helping your child sleep through the night and establish good sleep habits. Not only does it tell you how to help shape your child's sleep it also tells you why it works. Another nice part of the book is it will tell you by age how much an average child sleeps and how much is at night and in naps. I love this book so much I won't loan it to anyone for fear of not getting it back. Instead, I give it as a baby gift to every new mother I know. I have even given it to 2nd time mothers if they didn't have a copy before. Excellent book!!!

Great Book - Very Useful
This book helped me so much when my young son started having sleep troubles. It addresses real life problems and gives very practical and doable resolutions for all kinds of sleep issues. I have also given this book as a gift to several of my friends who have had babies recently, so I highly recommend this book.

good advice from a sleep therapist who's also amom
When I was pregnant in 2005, I read "Babywise", "Baby Whisperer", Dr. Ferber's book, and a bunch of other books that basically recommended some form of "crying". Now with my 2nd child (2008), this book seemed to work a little better with this child...The "Sleep Lady Shuffle" still has the babies crying, but not quite as loud, and it eases them into falling asleep by themselves. I was reading both ends of the book, since I still have trouble with my 2 1/2 year old after illnesses/vacation/etc. She also gives suggestions for how to re-coach the kids when they've "forgotton" how to go to sleep by themselves. I recommend this book. She also has a monthly newsletter (email) that has helpful hints from her book.

Start your new family out right and truly enjoy your children!!!
I used this book with both my children; implementing the guidelines as soon as they were born. I cannot recommend it enough!!!! Our children thrived off the predictable routine and maximum sleep time. They were fantastic sleepers and still are. At ages 7 and 4 both children have been sleeping (in their own beds) from 8:30 P.M. till 8:00 A.M. without waking up since they were about 9 months old. I cannot tell you enough how great it is to have evenings to yourselves and happy children during the day. If you do exactly what is outlined in this book, you will have a success! I have recommended this book to many of my sleep deprived friends! I even acted as a sounding board to them when they wanted to cave and slip back into old habits. But because they too stuck with it, their children are now fantastic sleepers. Read this book!!!! Get your life back!!!
