EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description As we age, calcium deposits tend to accumulate in our soft tissues. Doctors call it "Extra-skeletal calcification." This means that the calcium that is supposed to be deposited in your bones is being lodged in your soft tissues where is does not belong. The condition can manifest itself in many ways: Heart disease, cancer, wrinkled skin, arthritis, kidney stones, osteoporosis, dental problems, bone spurs, senility, cataracts and many other health problems. Fortunately, there are many proven techniques to combat soft-tissue calcification. By making a few simple changes in your diet and lifestyle, you can prevent and reverse what is commonly called the calcium bomb. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 3.5 based on 3 reviews)
| Increased my bone density! I had been suffering from a loss of bone density, which I thought was due to age. I had been using coral calcium supplements in an effort to slow down the condition. However, my bone density had continued to decrease. I was given this book by a friend of mine who said it might help. I was extremely skeptical, but decided to try some of the recommendations. I started using the special form of magnesium and vitamin K as described in this book. Not only has my bone loss stopped, but my bone density has actually increased, as shown in my recent bone scan. I highly recommend this book to anyone with osteoporosis, or any condition resulting from the improper metabolism of calcium. The techniques really work. June 10, 2008 | | Lowered my coronary artery calcium score! I had been diagnosed with calcium deposits in my coronary arteries. My doctor told me that it may be a risk factor for heart disease, but offered no treatment to improve the condition. He told me to just watch and wait. After searching the internet, I found this book. I was a little skeptical at first, but tried the regimen outlined in this book. It's been about 8 months now and my recent CT scan has shown improvement. I can't say for sure whether the improvement is due to the regimen I got from this book, but I can say that I am not taking any other medications to treat this condition. Apparently, there are no standard drug treatments for calcium deposits. All I know is my coronary artery calcium score has dropped significantly, as shown in my recent CT scan. June 03, 2008 | | Unsubstantiated half-truths make up the greater part of this book I purchased this book thinking it would contain evidence for its claim that calcium is a factor associated with aging. Instead, I found a poorly-formatted, self-published title without any detail of the writer's credentials for authoring such a title.
The book contains numerous examples of unsubstantiated information, much of which is scientifically incorrect. For example, page 20 claims that "the only reliable sources of magnesium are the dark green leafy vegetables that contain chlorophyll." A quick look at the USDA Nutrition database for magnesium-containing foods will show that this statement is patently incorrect. Similarly, page 20 states, "Virtually 90% of people afflicted with hypertension have found that their blood pressure becomes normal after a few weeks of magnesium supplementation." This statement is not substantiated in any way by the writer and in any event is most likely incorrect. As an experienced Clinician, I have not found magnesium as a single intervention to be almost universally helpful in lowering blood pressure. Page 63 attempts to clarify the issue of acid-base balance. Many of the foods listed in the accompanying tables are incorrectly classified. If readers require a scientific review of this subject, I refer them to the peer-reviewed work of Thomas Remer and Lynda Frassetto.
Other references to 'wheatgrass making up for all the nutritional inadequacies that most of us live with' and ' vegetarians can get their omega-3 from flaxseed' are again both ubnsubstantiated and incorrect.
It is this type of publication which denies the general reader a real opportunity to enhance his health status by way of validated Nutritional Medicine. This book is written in the style of some Naturopathic books of 50-60 years ago when there was little Science to substantiate such views; today, substantial evidence exists and readers are entitled to the facts. Steer clear of it! May 23, 2008 | |
