EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Silence of the Bunnies is a whimsical journey of self-discovery, triggered by the author's mid-life discovery that he faced serious medical issues (Parkinson's disease). The discovery forces the author to confront who he is, and he uses humor and pathos to relish both the human condition and the many foibles he has encountered in his life. In the end, he finds the illness to be a much-needed wake up call, from which he derives a determination to face life with determination and zest. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 5 reviews)
| Great Writer!!! Few people have the ability to put their thoughts into words...Dan Stark has that gift!!! I highly recommend this book for everyone (not just people with PD)It made me laugh and cry, I look forward to reading more from this talented writer!!!! May 08, 2008 | | Laughter and Liberation I bought my husband "Silence of the Bunnies" by Dan Stark and saw him change dramatically in his outlook on life. Here are his comments:
" I am a 59 yr. old Pediatrician, recently diagnosed with PD. I read
"Silence of the Bunnies" over a weekend on call. It was easy to read
and I looked forward to each new chapter. Dan helped me progress
rapidly through my acceptance of PD. I can now enjoy being humorous
about my diagnosis and life and at the same time, be free of some of
the old quicksand that drags us down. The parable of the bunny is
just marvelous. I hightly recommend this for reading by anyone with a
progressive disease. Depression is no longer a choice for me, but
rather Laughter and Liberation. Thank you, Dan, for exposing your
journey in order to help others. Mike Dennis, HorseShoe, NC October 25, 2007 | | stay away This book was extremely depressing to me as a newly diagnosed young adult parkinson's patient. I bought it thinking it was a humorous look at this chronic disease. Instead I found it not at all funny, not a bit hopeful, written by an angry man ranting against Bush's noncompliance with stem cell research. I want a cure too, but I want it to be done God's way.
October 18, 2007 | | A Great Read! You should read this book! It is engaging (once I started reading, it was hard to put down), extremely well written and both touching and humorous. The author has a unique ability to turn normal everyday occurrences into comedic and thought-provoking narrative. And when serious subjects are discussed, such as the author's struggles with Parkinson's disease, the reader is somehow left feeling hopeful rather than depressed. What I liked best, though, is how the book presents a different view of seemingly ordinary events - views that make so much sense I often felt that I should have thought of them myself. August 03, 2007 | | Powerful, moving and funny This book will grab you in a way that others do not. In one moment Dan's sardonic wit will have you laughing out loud and in the next moment his intensely personal revelations will touch you. Well written and very readable, this book has something for everybody. His chapters exposing the foibles of modern life have an Andy Rooneyesque appeal. Anyone who has struggled with serious health issues will find strength in the descriptions of his own personal struggles with Parkinson's Disease. This book is written from the heart and is well worth your time.
