From the supplier: Some of the fundamental economic challenges that need to be addressed before the potential benefits of transgenic crops can be realized are evaluated by focusing on the case of Bt cotton. These challenges are found to be mainly with regard to property rights, enforcement measures for contractual relationships between farmers and transgenic Bt technology patent holders and regulatory activities of concerned agencies. Moreover, transgenic technologies are likely to raise substantial political debate because of the large implications for seed suppliers, farmers and consumers.
