| The story of "bait and switch" and horrific customer service. by M. Steck (Seattle, WA United States) 1 Stars October 22, 2009 I ordered a pair of the blue butterfly wings for a child on October 7. I received confirmation that the item was in stock and I would receive it the week of October 14-19. I received the package on October 17, but when I opened it, I found a set of adult-sized fairy wings instead of the child's butterfly wings I paid for. My daughter is three years-old and tops off at 36". The wings I had hoped to receive were only 21" high. The ones I received were way taller than my daughter. But the shipping invoice I received had "Wings Butterfly Blue Child" on it, so I figured it was an honest mistake and I'd contact Wonder Costumes to clear it up and send me the right order.
The next day, I contacted Wonder Costumes via Amazon's e-mail function, asking them for a Return Merchandise Authorization form (as directed on their website) so that I could send the fairy wings back and they could exchange it with the correct merchandise I actually ordered. I hadn't heard back, so I phoned them the next day and left a detailed voice mail message. The day after that, I sent another e-mail message, this time directly to their website, rather than through Amazon. The next day, after I hadn't heard back, I phoned them again and left another message. To date, I have yet to hear back from anyone.
Now, I see that the product is no longer available through Amazon, so in all likelihood, I will probably never receive what I'd paid for and Wonder Costumes will probably never call to apologize, or reimburse me for their mistake. How is this ethical? How is this fair business practice? I'm really disgusted by their lack of professionalism in not replying to me after my four attempts to contact them and resolve this matter. What's worse is that now, my daughter's out of luck in getting the costume she wanted for Halloween.
