High Quality by Ron Gonzalez (Boston) 5 Stars

I was immediately impressed by this unit as soon as I opened it. The fit and finish is top quality. I am going to test it once to make sure it works, but out of the box it comes with everything you need for those emergency situations. I'm rating it 5 stars because I was impressed that it comes in its own protective carry bag with a top handle. The case has pockets for the main compressor as well as a side pocket for the coil hose. I'm very happy to have this unit in my trunk now.

I have tested air compressor once to make sure it works. Seems to work fine. I purchased a seperate accu - gauge with bleeder valve and quick connect that screws on to end of air compressor which makes using it much easier / faster.

Great pump... Needs to have better accessories. by Kenneth Smith (Tucson, AZ) 4 Stars

Great little pump that needs a little work to make it "perfect". At 2.5 cubic feet per minute (CFM) it is at least 3 times faster than the little ones advertised as those for your car. As received it is useful for filling up car tires but... The end of the air line does not come off and the quick disconnect for the pump end is not "standard" so it can't be used for much else. It does need a little work to make it better but it can be done. Since the air connection at the pump is not standard it needs to be changed to be useful. Modifying the pump head using an 1/4-18 NPT tap and adding a standard air fitting to make it compatible with standard air connections makes it much more useful (note that doing this will invalidate the warranty). I did this modification and bought a kit of standard air accessories including a hose which is an almost duplicate of the supplied one so that it can be used to fill bicycle tires, motorcycle tires, and RV tires and used with small air tools. Now it is almost "perfect". No it will not run your full size paint gun or your nail gun, but it will run anything that requires 2.5 CFM air or less with no problem and will fill an RV tire in a reasonable amount of time. NOTE: This pump is functionally the same as the MV50 also by Q-Industreis and available on Amazon.com

Good little compressor by Alan H. 5 Stars

Pros: Solid construction on mine, no loose cords or fittings. Runs great -- fast and not too loud. Nice little carry bag. Does have on/off switch (earlier reviewer said it didn't). Cons: Screw-on valve is a little annoying -- not as much of an issue for vehicle tires since you can unscrew it before losing too much air, but not so good for bike tires. Non-standard coupler doesn't fit common accessories. (If I manage to break it or get tired of the valve, I'll rethread the hole and put in new fittings.) Pressure gauge is a little off, but easy to replace with a $4 one. Other: Don't bother with cigarette lighter air compressors--my Campbell Hausfeld one crapped out when I needed it most. Get one like this that can clip onto the battery. +1 on checking the 4x4 forums for modifications and such.

Excellent after mods by Baloo the bear (Crawlerado) 4 Stars

I did a LOT of research before purchasing this particular compressor, and despite the issues that some people have had, I still felt it was going to be the best way to go. Its a drag to buy something, then have to fix it out of the box, but after doing the modifications, this little thing is awesome and reliable. When it arrived, I connected it for 30 seconds to make sure it worked, then got busy working on the issues I had read might be awaiting me ... and they were there, sure as heck. Issue #1: There is a relay in back by the switch and they did a lousy job soldering it; install solderless connectors. Additionally, my relay was bad, so I replaced with better quality. (Open the back slowly and carefully). -$6 fix, 30 min repair- Issue#2: The connector for the hose is an odd duck, so you may want to tap out the head and replace with one more usable. This is not as tough and frightening a job as you think. do some research. -$5 (connector and fitting), 30 min repair- Issue #3: the gauge is crap, get rid of it. You can find one made for checking tires (slime brand) at an auto parts store and it screws right in. -$3.99, 1 minute repair- Issue #4: The power cord. I use mine as on-board air and immediately hardwired using large-gauge wire, so it wasn't so much an issue for me. However, some have complained about various minor problems. Research and apply your own solution if needed. After the mods, I agree with the majority that this to be probably the best portable 12v compressor out there. I use it a LOT in my rock crawler. Google the name and model number; there are several long and detailed threads on 4x4 forums about this. Baloo
