Great book to introduce children to snakes by Silverblade (Indiana) 5 Stars
January 11, 2009
My daughter is 21 months old and loves animals. She actually picked this book out herself. She's very curious. She loves to look at the pictures as I read it to her. It does have a very easy to self - read format for younger children who are starting to read on their own. It also teaches the children snakes aren't mean or to be feared they are just part of the diverse world of nature. It explains the nature of snakes and their life cycle in very clear and easy to understand language. She loves the book and wants me to read it again and again. The pictures are great and well detailed. It is a colorful Animal Planet type book.

My students loved it by Emily Taylor (Northern Utah) 5 Stars

Goodness me, but I am always thrilled when I can find a non-fiction educational text that will actually entertain students. I have noticed that this line of readers manage to churn out some truly great stories. Or information, in this case of science books like this. This is filled with brightly colored photographs that manage to hit many of the major groupings of our reptilian friends and the text talks about biology, physiology, and the impacts of snakes on the environment and vise versa. Not that I am making a strong effort to turn my class into a bunch of tree huggers, but this this really did get everyone's attention. It's great for a read-aloud, and many of my kids can read it on their own. And they do!
