Are you just another AFC ("average frustrated chump") trying to meet an HB ("hot babe")? How would you like to "full-close" with a Penthouse Pet of the Year? The answers, my friend, are in Neil Strauss's entertaining book The Game. Strauss was a self-described chick repellant--complete with large, bumpy nose, small, beady eyes, glasses, balding head, and, worst of all, painful shyness around women. He felt like "half a man." That is, until a book editor asked him to investigate the community of pickup artists. Strauss's life was transformed. He spent two years bedding some fine chiquitas and studying with some of the North America's most suave gents--including the best of them all, the God of the pickup "community," a man named Mystery. Mystery is an aspiring Toronto magician who charges $2,250 for a weekend pickup workshop. He is not much to look at: a cross between a vampire and a computer geek. But by using high-powered marketing techniques he's turned seduction into an effortless craft--even inventing his own vocabulary. His technique sounds like a car salesman's tip sheet: his main rule is FMAC--find, meet, attract, close. He employs the "three-second rule"--always approach a woman within three seconds of first seeing her in order to avoid getting shy. Other tricks: Intrigue a beautiful woman by pretending to be unaffected by her charm; also, never hit on a woman right away. This book was mildly entertaining to read and the price was way too high. This book describes the author's self educated story regarding what set of behaviors he needed to learn and exhibit around women in order to obtain the ultimate goal of getting laid. Most people learn this stuff on their own in high school and college. I mean really how hard is it to get laid in High School or College. But if some of you ugly guys need help this is your book. This book may give some of you some much needed social skills regarding how to approach and talk to women in an effort to get some. And basically his advice is telling a woman anything she needs to hear in order to get into her pants on an emotional level, but after you obtain your goal your on your own to deal with her intellectual side. There is nothing in this book to educate one on how to sustain any long type of loving relationship built on trust. I bet any guys that follow Niel's advice will get laid but they will be unable to sustain any type of long relationship and will end up pretty unhappy and depressed just like one of the first characters Mystery, that was Neil's first guru on women. Read this book to be entertained, but beware of Karma when pulling off any of his advice and the unavoidable consequences caused by your conduct. This book is a perfect guide to create an emotionally scorned woman ready for revenge. The funny thing is that the advice and methods found in the book actually do work with women. Women are pretty stupid when in an emotional fog. And Neil tells you how to make this emotional fog step by step. This book should come with a box of condoms because your gonna need them. Watch out for paternity suits and STDs because your gonna learn the hard way that those are way more expensive than this book.

I don't want to reiterate what others stated before me, so I urge you to buy this book if you are new to the pickup community. Apart from the history of the community in the early 2000's, you get a personal perspective on how things unfolded in this budding and ever growing field, the history of the author from AFC to a pickup guru and then to a more refined and confident man that Neil Strauss is.

Some books on this subject promise much but deliver little in terms of practical advice. This book offers insight and gives information that is immediately understandable and useful. I have already begun to use some of the techniques with amazingly positive results.

The font on this version was so small I needed spectacles and the nearly every page of the book fell out after about 3 sessions of reading. It was shaping up to be a great read too..
