Awaken your Strongest Self by Robert E. Stonebraker (Los Angeles, CA USA) 3 Stars

I found this cd a spoken in an unvarying tone and Tediously repetitious and lacking in variety. The Secret is much more inspirational. Save your money.

From a lifelong frustrated puzzled procrastinator by George Dyer (San Francisco, USA) 5 Stars
September 02, 2009
Several months after having become acquainted with both Awaken(...) and The NOW (...), I am very pleased to report great improvements in relevant areas of my life, due to the simple suggestions in these remarkable books. I have learned more about the inward dynamics of procrastination, perfectionism and "unrecognized genius" syndrome (my term) from Fiore than from decades of therapy, analysis, introspection and daily life-feedback. He nailed it in the first chapter I read and, of course, I continued on, savoring the highly unusual feeling that, in regard to this mysterious attribute of my character, I was understood. I continue to improve (amazing myself in the process) in my ability to act in line with my own deepest values. I have acquired from Fiore a few very powerful and helpful techniques for not caving in (not so frequently, at any rate) to the vivid distractions that have always derailed me. This is occurring without my having to master either a huge intellectual structure or an unfamiliar way of living. According to Fiore, everything I needed I already had and have. This is not an intuitively difficult proposition to accept. The trick, at least in my case, has always been to access it when needed and especially when, like, REALLY needed. Perhaps the most persuasive testimony: My spouse (a born non-procrastinator) has noticed and commented on the improvements. So have my employers (although I have not discussed the books with them - which would be absurd!)

A top-notching, cutting-edge, self-help book! by Ronald J. Frederick (Minneapolis, MN United States) 5 Stars
February 09, 2009
As a licensed psychologist, I read many self-help books so I can make informed recommendations to my clients. I just finished reading AWAKEN YOUR STRONGEST SELF and thorougly enjoyed it. In a clear and highly accessible style, author Neil Fiore lays out a unique and powerful approach to help you awaken your higher self and take control of your life. His material is firmly grounded in research yet easy to understand and apply. I love how he talks about the brain and how to make full use of it (most of us don't) in an effort to develop an observing and wiser self which, as he shows, is well within our reach. I don't think anyone has laid out a map to help people do this before. Very impressive!

Not as good as 'The Now Habit' by gottahaveajava (Berkeley, CA) 3 Stars
December 27, 2008
Review completely re-written on October 12, 2009 As a fan of 'The Now Habit,' originally published in 1988, I bought a copy of 'Awaken Your Strongest Self,' curious to see what insights Dr. Fiore had picked up in the nearly 20 years that separate them, a period during which we've seen a revolution in neuroscience and in our understanding of the brain. When 'The Now Habit' was published, Dr. Fiore was impressively ahead of the curve with his insights into the workings of the brain, in ways that foretold the revolution that was about to unfold. So it's with disappointment that I find little that's new in 'Strongest Self,' and few, if any, of the kinds of vivid new insights into the workings of the brain that characterized Dr. Fiore's earlier and, in my opinion, much stronger work. In fact, I'm a little put off by the popularizing pop psychology feel of the newer material. To the extent that 'Awaken Your Strongest Self' revisits the work of 'The Now Habit,' it's a valuable book. I don't think that it adds enough to make it worth having both, and if you're going to buy only one, I recommend 'The Now Habit.' By the way, this is my fourth review. My first two reviews were deleted by Amazon, for reasons that were never adequately explained to me. I personally deleted my third review, as it was having unintended consequences that were not consistent with my original intent. This current review reflects the sum of my thoughts on this book, and my wishes that Dr. Fiore continue in his good and valuable work.

An Amazing Book & Concept by John Phillips (Utah) 5 Stars
November 14, 2008
This book is a breakthrough concept. Instead of fighting against yourself or your thoughts you learn to really acknowledge and appreciate every single part of you and learn to live from a whole new paradigm of a higher stronger self rather than a smaller part of you. I found this to be so much easier than cognative therapy or even "the work" questions because you actually acknowledge your thoughts and feelings with empathy and you still make a higher choice taking all your parts into consideration first. This works well in interacting with others as well and is a very loving way to be, in my opinion. Contingency plans for failure built into your goals is also amazing, because who hasn't jumped off the bandwangon on a new goal and beat themselves up for it. Overall I found this book well written and worth every word.
