| The end of a life-long search! by MGrimball 5 Stars November 16, 2009 This eating plan is the answer for all of those who are insulin-resistant and find it impossible to lose weight or control their glucose level. A great book...wish it had been written 30 years ago!
| | Insulin-Resistance Diet by L. Suggs (Texas) 5 Stars September 10, 2009 This book has great info on what insulin resistance is and how the body's insulin production responds to what we eat. Following the diet is easy because there is lots of information on different foods and how to combine them. A plus is that weight loss comes naturally as a by-product of controlling insulin. I lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks! I highly recommend this book to anyone who has been diagnosed with or suspects that they may be insulin resistant.
| | The best livable, long term un-diet ever by pippy longstocking 5 Stars September 08, 2009 Well, I was up to 250 lbs and a size 22. Like most overweight people I had tried all the popular diets and exercise; weightwatcher, atkins...why bother listing them all. Anyhow even did a hour of high impact aerobics five days a week and didn't lose over five pounds in three months.
About four months ago I got sick of the whole thing and doctors advice is so worthless. I mean come on..what overweight person doesn't know their overweight, hasn't tried a diet, and couldn't teach a nutrition class un prepped. Bottom line try this undiet. It's easy, no fluff, and it takes it off like magic. I'm down to a size 14 now by the way. I do yoga for stress but I can't say enough about this undiet. You'll love it, it's so doable. no starving, no calorie counting, I just kind of watch my carbs and shoot for no more than thirty grams carbs with protein in two hours intervals. It works and it's the answer your looking for!
| | The Insulin Resistance Diet by J Shub 3 Stars August 09, 2009 This book has some valuable information, but as one gets into it, the authors fall into the same pattern as most medical personnel. As far as diet is concerned, the "link-and-balance" method is probably beneficial, but
they have things included in the diet that NO ONE with insulin resistance should eat (and no one without
insulin resistance). To include food items with refined carbohydrates in the diet is ludicrous. It's amazing how little most doctors actually know about a proper diet for people with insulin resistance.
| | Finally something that works! by Diane Rodriguez (New York, NY) 4 Stars August 05, 2009 I purchased this book because my 14 year old, autistic daughter kept gaining weight no matter what I did. We tried weight watchers, I took her to a nutritionist, but nothing worked. Finally, I took her to an endocrinolgist who diagnosed her with insulin resistance. After doing some research, I found this book. We started following the diet and the first week, she lost 2 pounds - she has never lost 2 pounds in a week - even on weight watchers! She is now down 11 pounds in about 5 weeks. She even lost 2 pounds while we were on a cruise. What I like is that it doesn't really eliminate anything which is very difficult for an autistic child. You just have to be mindful of the carb-protein ratios. We are finding the diet easy to follow and look forward to her finally reaching a healthy weight.
