EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description White's Fluid Mechanics, sixth edition will continue the text's tradition of excellent problems of different types, precision and accuracy, and good application of concepts to engineering. This is the number one supplement package in Fluids! The new 6th edition will feature the best general problem-solving approach to date, presented at the start of the book and carefully integrated in all examples. Students can progress from general ones to those involving design, multiple steps and computer usage. Word problems are included to build readers’ conceptual understanding of the subject, and FE Exam problems (in multiple-choice format) are included. EES (Engineering Equation Solver) software is included so that students can effectively use the computer to model, solve and modify typical fluid mechanics problems. A DVD containing EES is free with every book, and Appendix E describes its use and application to fluid mechanics. A limited version of EES, that does not expire, is included on the CD ROM. Users of the book can also download and distribute the full Academic Version of EES, which is renewed annually with a new username and password. Also an animation library will be included as well as 150 algorithmic problems, in ARIS, McGraw's-Hill's electronic homework management system. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 7 reviews)
| As Promised by W. C. Schleicher (Pennsylvania, USA) 4 Stars August 29, 2009 The book came when I needed it. I received it in the condition promised. I'd buy from them again.
| | Decent by Thomas Shea 5 Stars September 30, 2008 Processing and Shipping took a long time. Got it on the last day before I was suppose to contact Amazon about the product not showing up
| | Fluid Mechanics 6th edition by Frank M. White by A. Harder 4 Stars August 12, 2008 Lots of good problems but lacks enough explanations in some cases, and only decent derivations for equations.
| | Worst book I ever bought by J. Lutter (South Dakota) 1 Stars April 16, 2008 I am currently taking Fluid Mechanics in pursuit of a ME degree. The teacher suddenly decided to switch to this book after previous teachers used the cengel book. When the semester is over, I will be selling back this one and i will buy the cengel book. The tables are hard to find in the back, the cengel book makes it easier to find them. The inside covers are the most valuable pages for conversions..etc, this book does not use them at all, All of the chapters do not directly explain any concepts, or give any examples worth going through...overall very bad book, do not buy it unless you have to
| | Excellent Book by Melony Mahaarachchi (Los Angeles, CA, USA) 5 Stars September 18, 2007 This book is one of the most stimulating books on fluid mechanics that I have come across. It is very carefully written and well organized. The physics behind the phenomena are vividly explained. The subject is, mathematically not difficul. Excellent problems at the end of each chapter.
