Fortunately, systems of logical thinking to provide such support are readily available.
This book explains that the reason human minds grew unstable in the first place can be traced to the sexual attractiveness of intelligence. A kind of "arms race" escalation in clever mates resulted in intelligence which extended beyond natural support mechanisms.
Peacock's tails grew beyond ordinary support mechanisms in exactly this way.
Knowing why one needs to pursue methods of logical reasoning in order to sustain one's rationality helps motivate the process. One can understand why it is necessary to persist in efforts to improve one's reasoning.
