makes a great gift by Janice A. Sperry 5 Stars October 23, 2009 I gave this book as a baby shower gift. It's something they can do together for years to come! It lasts longer than noisy toys and clothes that they'll outgrow.

Children's Classic by M. Kubicz 5 Stars September 18, 2009 I had this paperback as a child and now my daughter loves the story, too. The illustrations and story reassure children's common fears about nightmares and monsters. Also good for boys since the main character is a boy. The only thing that may no longer be PC today, is that the boy has a toy gun and "shoots" the nightmare.

made my child afraid of monsters at night! by Robin Lapre (tenn) 1 Stars August 12, 2009 I just had to agree with some of the other 1 star reviews. My son saw the cartoon version of this book in kindergarten. That very night, my son came into my room afraid of monsters in his closet. He had to sleep with us for 2 nights. The possibility of monsters in his closet had never occurred to him until this story. We love Mercer Mayer - we have just about every Critter book out there - but this is one story I would save for either an older child, or a child who does not internalize stories.

Nostalgia by gnat (SLC, UT) 5 Stars June 17, 2009 I remembered this from when I was a kid. The illustrations are hilarious, and I love the story - so does my daughter. Great book.

I really regret reading this book to my 4-year old! by 2bbm (VA) 1 Stars August 03, 2008 My 4-year old has fears for darkness so I thought reading this book might help! I read it to him only once and I regretted it immediately. Too late, it made him more scared of darkness, now he has to check closets (he never did this before) and is worried that monsters are hiding there. Be aware parents!!!
