EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Clearly written, well organized, and comprehensive, Language Development is the most widely used text in its field. In recognition of the language variations among children, new advances in linguistics and neurology, and the importance of literacy, the Seventh Edition of this highly readable text devotes significant space to these areas as they impact our understanding of individual development. In addition, discussion of other cultures is included in the text wherever possible. Sections on culturally linguistically diverse children accurately reflect the realities of everyday life in the United States. Developed within a practical chronological framework, the Seventh Edition examines every aspect of syntax, morphology, semantics, phonology, and pragmatics. As in previous editions, Owens presents even the most complex, technical concepts at an appropriate level for beginning students. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 3.5 based on 5 reviews)
| Gross by Jenna Gray (oak brook, il) 2 Stars February 27, 2009 This book has so much water damage that I didn't even want to touch it when I opened the box. I really just wanted to send it right back and get my money back. My teacher saw the book and could not believe that I paid over $70 for the book.

| | Easy to Understand by L. Rivera (Redlands, CA. USA) 4 Stars February 13, 2007 This book gives comprehensive detail on how language is normally developed. Its very easy to understand
| | Good info, hard read by Ebony Brown (Los Angeles, CA) 3 Stars January 03, 2007 This book is chock-full of vital information on the subject. The issue is that it is not an easy read. The words are small and it seems as if the info just goes on and on and on with no page breaks or chapter reviews often. But because of the good content, I've decided to keep the book instead of selling it back.
| | Too much information 4 Stars July 21, 1999 This book is packed with an incredible amount of information on language development making it a good resource. However, this incredible detail is confusing for students taking their first course in language development.
