| Concise, and clear! by Ali S. Araghi (Iowa, USA) 4 Stars January 06, 2009 This concise text book on Respiratory medicine is highly recommended for every pulmonologist who needs to update her knowledge base in the shortest time, concise, clear and practical, free of ivory tower's controversies!!
| | So far, so good! by D. Germain (Longueuil, QC) 4 Stars September 19, 2004 I bought this book as my first "big" respiratory medicine textbook and I have to say it's very well done! The content is pretty up to date, it's simple and practical, easy to read. The images are amazing and they come in PDF on a companion CD free with the book... perfect for PowerPoint presentations. It's not absolutely complete... but no pulmonary textbook is! If you're just starting in respiratory medicine, get this textbook first!
| | Excellent by Ashwin K. Mani 5 Stars August 30, 2004 Not a comprehensive textbook of pulmonary medicine, but a very good place for a quick review. The use of color flowcharts, algorithms, pathology makes this very easy to read . I thought the chapters on sarcoid, asthma, copd were very good.(Although the asthma chapter left out details on antiIGE therapy)
A frequent problem of many "textbooks " is the presentation and I think that is where this book really scores high. The material is lucid , easy to read and the emphasis on pathogenesis , physiology makes it easy to understand as well.
This should be used as a starting point for any topic and then Murray and Nadel or other text books can be used as a reference.
I wish more authors would use this format when writing text books , the subject matter is fascinating, why not make it look nice as well?
