CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 99 reviews)
| Good stuff! by Radek (USMC) 4 Stars October 20, 2009 After reading a few of the horrible reviews for this book...I had to read it. It is amazing how personally offended the reviewers were/are that this book even exists. I don't understand their level of pure hatred/malice at this book.
After reading this book, I now have one technique that fits a wide variety of circumstances. It is a single tool that can be used in a wide variety of situations. Even better, it works with the everyday.
The main premise, like most memory books, is to force the reader to be aware in the moment of what they are reading. It goes on to explain that the reader can trust their mind to make the corrections.
The author does not pretend to have a degree. In fact, he mentions several times that he does not. Mr. Lorayne avoids discussing the actual workings of the brain. He avoids theories about how we think. He stays away from evolution of the brain. Basically, anything you would find in college about the anatomy or theory of the brain or memory is NOT in this book.
I found the technique to be very useful and accurate. There are plenty of applications from ranging from the serious to the more playful. However, it is always practical and easy. The most difficult part is coming up with some of the words needed for the sounds.
| | Helps; buy it before you get in two school! by Rick (New Haven, CT USA) 4 Stars October 19, 2009 You will need time to practice the skills, so make sure you buy this book before you get in to school. It helps, is not a miracle book, but it helps!
| | The very best book for any student of anything... by Mr. J. D'arcy (Ireland) 5 Stars September 29, 2009 I used this book 33 years ago when I did my (Irish) school Leaving Certificate exams and I got very high marks. Recently, I needed to get to grips with some very difficult information for an exam in Facilities Management, and using the systems in this book, I aced my mid term exams scoring 93% ...top of the class of 18 others. I am the oldest. So I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks, certainly these systems work, and anyone studying for exams should not go without this book. Any subject, and topic anywhere. This is the book.
| | Awesome memory book. Would be GREAT to start young children on! by M. Hammers 5 Stars September 22, 2009 At the age of 45 I bought this book. As an exercise, I made myself memorize (using their techniques, of course!) the 50 states in alphabetic order. Then I went back and memorized each capital, state motto and the order they became a state.
I really wish this had been around when I was a kid and had a sponge for a brain. This would have been an invaluable tool during school. I'm convinced I would have made straight A's effortlessly, and would have gone on to much more college than just a Bachelor's degree. DO GET THIS FOR YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN! It might just be one of the best things you ever do for them!
| | A great starting place! by Christine Richardson (USA) 5 Stars July 05, 2009 This is a great book for a newbie - if you have not yet started, but want to - then this is a good starting place. If you don't achieve what you want in the first 90 days, give it 6 months to try again. It is very basic which is what some people need.
Another book that worked for me faster, and gave me very good results was this one: (both are great though) :
