Dance with the Devil by Kellyannl (Bronx, NY USA) 3 Stars

This volume of Tsubasa holds both strengths and weaknesses as the guys begin their pursuit of Sakura. To start off with the good, Fai is back. Although the very fact that he hasn't told the guys to start calling him Yui yet shows that there's still a broken little boy in him that still has alot of healing to do, it's highly unlikely that the gang has to worry about him committing suicide anymore - accidentally-on-purpose or otherwise - and in spite of the tense situation regarding Sakura he starts having fun with Kurogane again. One particular scene is the funniest there's been in a while. The volume also displays Tsubasa's occasional moral ambiguity. As Fai tried to remind Kurogane in Acid Tokyo, the clone hadn't exactly stolen his magic to spread peace and joy throughout the multiverses. To put it with brutal bluntness, the gang essentially decided collectively that Fai's life was more important than cutting off the clone's access to his power. As their nasty run-in with the angry mob of some of the relatives of it's victims showed, there are probably alot of people out there who would beg to differ that they made the right decision. In this volume the guys have to make another difficult decision to keep on Sakura's trail - and in addition to giving us yet another reason to hate Fei Wang Reed, it's going to be a decision they might have a hard time living with. Unfortunately, the rest of the volume loses punch. We've all been eager to find out what the deal is regarding the deal brokerage between Syaoran and Yuko. In this volume we find out more - but it makes the situation more convoluted and confusing than illuminated. Tsubasa had been wrapping up all the threads of Yuko's deals nicely, but CLAMP is now going to have to be careful not to hopelessly mire the joint situations. There is also a nod near the end to the spirit of the original Cardcaptor Sakura that even it's biggest fans may feel detracts attention from the final battle with Fei Wang Reed (and possibly a team-up with the Holic boys) towards which the series should be headed full steam by now. All in all, I'd consider this volume a mixed bag.
