Product Description
Dr. Josephson's unique five-step program combines the best practices from traditional and alternative medicine to bring relief to the millions who suffer from respiratory problems. Recent research shows that many respiratory diseases are more related than previously thought. Their common, underlying cause is what Dr. Josephson terms "Chronic Airway-Digestive Inflammatory Disease" (CAID). His groundbreaking, proven approach will provide real relief from sinus disease, allergies, asthma, sinus infections, sinus headaches, bronchitis, ear infections, snoring, sleep apnea, GERD, and the acute mold epidemic. Sinus Relief Now will show how to: - Maintain proper sinus care - Remove mold and other irritants from the home, office, and car - Follow a sinus-friendly nutrition program - Find the right medications and treatments - Experience total-body health

Long on Anatomy, short on What do to by Michael Pinter (New York) 2 Stars
November 05, 2009
This book was recomended by Seth Godin, the marketing guru, and I love his work so I bought it. I could not get through the whole thing because the first 70 pages goes into immense detail about the anatomy of the sinuses to the point where no one would care and most of the rest of the chapters did not apply to me (e.g. special cases, morbidly obese, etc.) There is some helpful information about irrigating your sinuses, which I am now doing, but the book could have been 200 pages shorter and I would have gotten just as much out of it.

Should You Read It? Definitely! Should You Buy It? Well, Maybe.... by David M. Hodges 4 Stars
October 31, 2009
This book's author, Jordan S. Josephson, M.D., writes: "According to a clinical outcome study performed at Harvard University, the chronic symptoms associated with chronic sinus disease can impair the quality of life of a sufferer more severely than heart disease impairs someone with congestive heart failure. This means that if you suffer from sinusitis, your sinus disease can be debilitating....And for those physicians and other well-intentioned folks who tell you to just live with it, this Harvard study proves that some people really have no idea just how miserable you can feel when your sinuses are out of control" (p. 91). If you're a long-term sinus sufferer as I am, you'll consider this paragraph alone sufficient justification for reading the book. (If you happen to have been an English major in college, you may also join me in wondering why the book's editors left the repetitive "chronic...chronic" in the first sentence. But that's minor.) The book provides a good general overview of sinus function, and interestingly relates sinus difficulties to such other problems as acid reflux (GERD, Gastroesophageal reflux disease), all of which Josephson (plausibly) judges expressions of a single syndrome, what he calls CAID, or Chronic Airway-Digestive Inflammatory Disease. If you're someone trying to achieve or maintain health while unassisted by medical insurance, or if you have a preference for holistic or alternative therapies, you may find Josephson's strong liking for certain treatments (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, or FESS; steroidal nasal sprays) irksome. You might also find his frequent instructions to see a specialist (ENT) physician a source of irritation, given that avoiding expensive (perhaps, given your situation, impossible) visits to doctors is part of your motivation for reading such ostensibly SELF-help books as SINUS RELIEF NOW. The seemingly defeatist attitude that, "like high blood pressure," sinus difficulties are not permanently/100% curable, might also annoy you, at least if you're of the more extreme "nothing is ultimately incurable" mindset. (If you are of such an extreme, arguably deluded, mindset, I and my fellow extremists welcome you!) Other aspects of the text will, however, allay some of the annoyance. Among these aspects is discussion of sinus irrigation, and why you should "just say no" to using a squeeze bottls in place of a Neti Pot or powered irrigation device (pp. 102 ff.). The discussion of biofilms is another such aspect (pp. 92-93). The idea in the case of the sinuses is that "a matrix forms in the sinuses that house...fungal [and/] or bacterial infection" and that this matrix (the biofilm) "anchors to the surface of the sinus and is difficult to remove," thus making sinus infection so difficult to eradicate once it becomes chronic/recurring. (To get a better idea of what a biofilm is, just check out the scum on a swamp near you.) Also worthwhile, and news to me, is that you can use over-the-counter triple-antibiotic ointment in your nose (pp. 119-20). Additionally, Josephson discusses some well-known alternative therapies late in the text, though I harbor a suspicion most of this was added by editors to pad the text and broaden readership. On balance, then, I judge this book well worth reading. As with almost every health or diet book I've ever read, fewer than 10% of the pages contain material that you'll actually want to refer back to for practical guidance. So, unless you just like to spend money and amass books (as once I did, with a vengeance), I counsel you to check this book out at a local library or borrow it from a friend. It's not a core reference work, nor is it a text you'll need or want to reread every year or two. Just check it out or borrow it and take a few notes, or make a few xerographic copies (only to the extent permitted by fair use law, of course). Then again, those Marketplace prices can be pretty cheap sometimes, can't they...?

DEFINITELY get this book, DEFINITELY see this Doctor by J. Duncan (New York, NY United States) 5 Stars
September 09, 2009
Thru injury, allergies and botched surgeries I've suffered thru sinus and respiratory problems since childhood, culminating in a recent 7 month period where I lost my sense of smell and taste, and suffered from a debilitating migraine. After extensive interview of different doctors I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Josephson who immediately diagnosed my problem and promptly set me on the path to recovery. With senses restored and migraine gone, I have incorporated the program from book, and expect to live a normal and healthy life from here on. I really doubt there's another doctor that's "so into" sinus and respiratory health like he is, nor a book as comprehensive, explanatory and prescriptive as this one.

Simple Steps for Sinus Relief by Rex (USA) 5 Stars
July 12, 2009
For all those out there that suffer with chronic allergy and sinus problems especially repeated sinus infections you can get your life back following Dr. Josephson's simple suggestions, which he outlines, in Sinus Relief Now. After years of ineffective drug use and even surgery I followed Dr. Josephson's suggestion of nasal irrigation using the SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System available on Amazon and dramatically changed the quality of my life. After nearly 20 years of suffering I am suffering no more. Dr. Josephson's book is really a comprehensive "How To" with simple steps you can take to naturally find relief none better than nasal irrigation. Thanks Dr. Josephson, I owe you one.

What can I say that hasn't already been said.... by Deborah 5 Stars

I consider myself blessed to have found this wonderful book. The Dr is a true humanitarian to write so candidly about CAID and how other doctors should be approaching your pain and chronic illness. I'm going to personally thank him by email and follow his recommendations. If his suggestions don't work then I'm going to make an appt to see him at his place of work. Most doctors are not doing their job out there and they are not taking the ethical stand to do no harm to the patient. There are a lot of reasons why this is so but with out getting into too much, if you find a good one then you don't want to let him go. I praise this Dr for writing this book for all of us sinus sufferers and plan on recommending it to everyone that I know. Highly recommended. He really wants you to get better.
