For the past forty or fifty years, a minute segment of the American population has been concerned about what to them appeared to be the impending collapse of the U.S. dollar due to the continuing expansion of America's currency supply. The inflation causing this concern was ushered in by Franklin D. Roosevelt's policies in the 1930s; gained momentum following the Bretton Woods Agreement of 1944 due to reckless government spending; accelerated rapidly when the dollar was made irredeemable in gold in 1971 creating the first world-wide fiat money system; and really began to take off about the year 2001. Those in the little group were and are generally dismissed by "experts" and the media as "gold bugs." Nevertheless, any number of books have been written over the years catering to this particular group's fears, and this book might be considered by the "experts" to be just another one. But, if it is, it is clearly the most thoroughly researched, most authoritative, and most timely of them all. The author more than makes his case, and he does so in easily understood language. Simply stated, this book is a must read for every thinking American whether a "gold bug" or not, and the time to read it is now. In it, you'll learn a lot about money, monetary history, and what has gotten the U.S. and the world into the mess we are in and what that means to you, the reader. The author even goes so far as to attempt to make some sense out of the Federal Reserve System (FED). Of course, we all know that's an impossibility, but you will learn who created the FED, why it was created, why its creation was so vehemently opposed, and how it has been, and is being used today, to inflate America's currency supply and, by so doing, to tax all the nation's of the world through inflation, and, with the help of America's political leaders, to destroy the U.S. dollar and perhaps our democracy. Best of all, the author makes some invaluable and well thought out recommendations as to what you, the reader, can do to protect yourself, your family, and your wealth, and perhaps to even prosper in the times ahead. It has been said that there are three kinds of people: those who make things happen (in this case, the super rich, the politicians, and the world's largest bankers); those who know what is happening (in this case, the author and the "gold bugs"); and those who wonder what happened (those who pay no attention to what is happening). If a word to the wise is sufficient, you'll read this book and act upon it. Otherwise, you may someday find yourself sitting on a curb somewhere wondering what happened.

The thing I could ever done is purchasing this book, I'm from Peru and didn't know where to buy gold or silver or even understand the events that move their prices up and/or down. This book puts you in context of everything that relates to money and currency, a how it reflects on the price of the gold and silver. You will understand the difference between price and value, currency and money. You will know that the policies the treausury of US will adopt is nothing more than keeping the pressure of printing money up, which will lead people to run to gold and silver and causing their prices to skyrocket. Now is the time to small capital owners to buy silver and if you're lucky and have millions, the gold is for you pal.

The book is very informative. However the author sells Gold and Silver from his website. Thus there is a conflict of interest. He gains from telling you to buy the stuff. It still may be and seems like good advice but do your research.

I hold a busy professional job and have not read a book from cover to cover for a long time. Yet I did so with this book. It is eye-opening. Like the author has aspired to do, the book drastically changed my 'context'. I was left with a much better understanding of the current state of economy we are in and how to cope with it. Along these lines of thinking, another book I recommend is Conspiracy of the Rich. Both books are fascinating in that they offer bold, independent, honest perspectives on how the banking system in this nation work #or fail to work# and in whose interests is the government actually acting, and as an individual investor and tax payer, what you can do to protect yourself in an uncertain time. If you have multiple books at hand fighting for your time and attention, I urge you put other things aside and read these two books first. You will be glad that you did. For if you are to receive a wake-up call, you want it to happen as early as possible. If an intelligent rebuttal against neither of these books exist, I would be interested to read them as well.
