Product Description
Mardi Gras in the French Quarter is where madness rules. The perfect time for narcotics cop Burke Basile to avenge the acquittal of his partner's murderer by kidnapping the sleazy defense attorney's wife. The line between saint and sinners blurs in this seething tale of corruption and desire as a desperate man and a lonely woman find redemption--or damnation--on Fat Tuesday.

Amazon.com Review
Precise details change with the ages, but you can bet that the first story ever written had something to do with revenge. Sandra Brown continues the tradition with her latest brick of a book, Fat Tuesday. After a gruff 'n' tuff New Orleans narc, Burke Basile, mistakenly blows a hole in his partner's noggin, he vows revenge--not only on the thug who was directly involved, but also on the sleazy kingpin behind it all. And in finest cop-drama tradition, he vows to do it outside the law. Fat Tuesday only begins to cook after Basile turns in his badge and--mixing charm and coercion--enlists various underworld elements in his cause. It's all a little B movie-ish at times, but for every hooker with a heart of gold, there's a fresher character like Gregory, the homosexual hustler who uses his drama degree to Basile's benefit. The villains are bad (can't go wrong with a lawyer), the heroine good, and the hero a big, wounded warrior looking for true love. What's not to like?

Not the best from Sandra Brown by J. Shetrone (Christiansburg, VA United States) 3 Stars

This wasn't my favorite Sandra Brown. While Pinkie Duvall makes an especially dastardly bad guy (I don't think he had even one redeeming characteristic), I wasn't that taken with Burke Basile. Frankly, I thought his revenge "plan" was a little ridiculous. But there are some bright spots... I did like Remy, and Brown does a good job with the red herrings and keeping you guessing. Though I did guess who the police mole was, I was doubting myself before the final reveal. This wasn't a horrible book, but it was certainly no Envy.

Pleasantly pleased. by A. E. Bradley (over here) 4 Stars

After I got used to the names of the characters, I started to enjoy the storyline. It is an action-packed book, although a little predictable. The good guy always gets the heroine at the end of Brown's books, but I can forgive that cliche because the rest of the story was so well told.

Loved It... by ThisThatNEverything (Columbus, Ohio United States) 5 Stars

I'm a huge Sandra Brown fan & this book did not disappoint. I hated to put this book down even when it was keeping me up till 4 a.m. I'd keep telling myself just 1 more page but it would be more like 50. The story line was great & the mystery of it kept me guessing till the very end when it was all revealed. I loved the little twists & turns in this book & Sandra's simple style of writing should keep any reader entertained. I highly recommend this book.

A fantastic, fast-paced suspense with tension on every page. I love the memorable characters Sandra Brown creates, and Burke Basil, burnt out cop is another one. The New Orleans background is authentically drawn, and all the personalities in the book seem real to life.
