A Must for Families with Dementia and other age-related diseases by SC Girl (South Carolina) 4 Stars
November 05, 2009
The current edition of this book is an excellent source for families with family members with dementia and other age-related diseases. Even if you just suspect that your loved one is starting to show signs on "something is just not right with his/her head," this book will help you tell you what to expect now and throughout the various stages of the diseases. The book describes the symptoms for each stage of the disease, what can be done, how to talk to the doctor, what to expect in the future, how to cope (mentally and physically), etc. An excellent resource!

The 36 Hour Day by Carolyn J. Sauerbrei (Springfield, MO. USA) 5 Stars

This book is primarily for caregivers, most likely family members caring for Alzheimer's patients or other chronic long term problems. It is well written, touches most any problem one encounters. This is my second copy as I gave my well read & underlined one away to a needy friend.

One of those "essential books" for those experiencing the onset and/or progression of Alzheimer's Disease in family or friends, The 36-Hour Day gives caregivers and extended family the information and tools for identifying, coping with and caring for their loved one. Given to me several years ago by a friend, I've used it as a source of reference many times over. I've simply passed along to a friend this book which I've found to be so enlightening.

This book was so helpful to me when I was caring for my husband who had some memory loss although not Alzheimer's. I bought this copy for my brother-in-law whose wife was diagnosed with it last year. I found it to be very practical advice for day to day living.
