| Best book I've ever read about Fibromyalgia! by mamaj (Midwest) 5 Stars September 23, 2009 After reading this book, I finally feel I understand the mechanics of FM. Whether Dr. Amand's treatment ever gets in a medical journal or not, if it helps those of us with the disease, that's a rather important accomplishment. I appreciate the use of analogies to help a lay person understand the technical functions in a body. Also, all effects of FM are covered as well as typical secondary issues like IBS.
There are a few charts and illustrations, all easy to understand. I haven't quite finished reading the book, but am already arranging to start the suggested treatment. I'd HIGHLY recommend this book if you or someone in your family has FM. I don't want to risk loosing my copy, so I've purchased a second copy for loaning.
The book's value is far more than what it costs here on Amazon!
| | Poorly written, poorly thought out. by gardenkitty 1 Stars June 12, 2009 I have read several books about fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. They were, in general, clearly written and their theories were clearly espoused. This book has almost no theory, (you must buy the previous book, only available used) and the content was repetitive and poorly organized. A perusal of the author's website will give you all the information you need to use this protocol.
The theory of this book, using guaifenisin for fibromyalgia, has been much discussed on the internet; and the upshot seems to be that the placebo effect is a powerful force in medicine. I am sure Dr St. Armand fully believes in his treatment, but the science does not bear out his theory.
I too, am looking for relief from pain, but I would save my money on this book.
| | Fibromyalgia by K. Anderson (Jacksonville, FL United States) 4 Stars May 16, 2007 The book is very informational. I found the information about hypoglycemia was very helpful. The two diet plans are easy to follow. I've had improvement already! Thanks.
| | One of the best books for people with fibromyalgia by D. Byers 5 Stars April 12, 2007 This book and Dr. St. Amand's other book, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You
About Fibromyalgia, have changed the quality of my life for the better.I strongly recommend both books for anyone diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.I went from a low quality of life, before the books, to a high quality almost normal life, after the books. To benefit from the suggested information a person must follow all of the advice given and not pick and choose. To learn more about Dr. St. Amand, his protocol and diet for fibromyalgia visit his website.
| | Great book for patients with FMS by Rosa Acevedo (PR) 5 Stars April 10, 2007 It offers an alternative over the counter treatment for people with FMS
