Was Surprisingly Helpful, I am Grateful for this Book by L. Bishop 5 Stars
August 21, 2009
I knew I had food issues, and was looking to read a book on the topic. I bought this one on a whim, based on the good reviews, but I did not have very high expectations. However, this book is EXACTLY what I needed and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who finds themselves repeatedly binge eating. The author, Geneen, is wonderful. She has dealt with binge eating her whole life so she has so much understanding and sympathy. She also has so many suggestions and helpful advice. It was so nice to realize that she understands what I have been going through. She really enabled me to understand what I was doing, why I was doing it, and how to help me begin to break free from the cycle I have been stuck in. If you have been living as a binge eater in secret, please read this book, and journal your way through it. It will greatly help you for the rest of your life.

great read for those with food issues by E. Estavillo 4 Stars

I wasn't too sure what to expect, but this book offers some useful tips and activities for those dealing with food issues. I've had issues food for most of my life, and this book has helped to delve into the unconscious issues behind my relationship with food. Although I do not agree with the authors 'eat whatever you want, when you want it' mantra; I feel that she suggests trying this in order to zap the power that we give to some forbidden foods.

Excellent Book! A must-have for anyone who struggles with food. by Sam Manns 5 Stars
July 07, 2009
This is, in my opinion, the best book written on food/weight issues I've ever read! And I've read too many to count. Geneen Roth truly knows about issues with food, weight, dieting, bingeing, & makes so much sense, I'm just sorry I didn't find this book years ago! I've been on the diet/binge cycle for close to 30 years, & since reading this book, I haven't binged in 2 months. Ms.Roth makes the reader feel good about his/her self, just the way they are, that I found I don't even want to overeat. I haven't been on my scale, but I have already lost some weight--by NOT dieting. She "gets" it, and I recomend all of her books. She is obviously intelligent, very knowledgable on the subject, & she uses humor in her books. Great books, great author!

Excellent Resource for Managing Negative Body Image Issues by MadforMusic (Sydney, Australia) 5 Stars
July 05, 2009
As a weight loss counsellor and someone who also manages her own weight and body image issues, I found this book extremely valuable. It places no blame and offers the reader personal stories of "success and failure" - concepts the author finds unhelpful. The book offers strategies and tools that work if one is ready to use them. Geneen Roth has written many books on this subject. This is the first I've read and I recommend it, highly.

I decided to read this because I was so sick of counting calories being in control of me. It has really opened my eyes to understand how to eat. Finally I don't have guilt about food:)
