Product Description
This reference gets you up to speed on mathematical modeling for environmental and water resources management. With a practical, application-oriented approach, it discusses hydrodynamics, sediment processes, toxic fate and transport, and water quality and eutrophication in rivers, lakes, estuaries, and coastal waters. A companion CD-ROM includes a modeling package and electronic files of numerical models, case studies, and model results. This is a core reference for water quality professionals and an excellent text for graduate students.

a very good reference book for hydrodynamic and water quality modeling application by Rui Zou 5 Stars
March 03, 2008
This is, in my point of view, one of the most useful reference book on a the water quality modeling subject. This book covers almost all the important aspects of developing and applying advanced hydrodynamic and water quality modeling technologies, with well balanced materials on both theory and practical issues. One of the features I like the best of this book is that its describption of water quality modeling as well as its theorectical analysis of governing equations are focused on the advanced and widely applied modeling framework-EFDC, thus through reading this book, workers in this field will not only get quick access of the basic knowledge about water quality modeling, but also the clear guidance on applying the very useful EFDC modeling system. I will be highly recommending that this book be used in a senior level or graduate environmental engineering classes as a reference book. As a modeler who has worked in the water quality modeling profession for more than 10 years, I feel that with this book, along with several other excelent reference books such as the Chapra or Thomman's surface water quality modeling book (for fundamental concept), and Lung's water quality modeling for TMDL book (for practical guidance on the art of modeling, rather than model itself), one would essentially has everything he need to succeed in realworld,high-end water quality modeling.

Computational River Dynamics
by Weiming Wu (Editor)

Comprehensive text on the fundamentals of modeling flow and sediment transport in rivers treating both physical principles and numerical methods for various degrees of complexity. Includes 1-D, 2-D (both depth- and width-averaged) and 3-D models, as well as the integration and coupling of these models. Contains a broad selection of numerical methods for open-channel flows, such as the SIMPLE(C) algorithms on staggered and non-staggered grids, the projection method, and the stream function...

Estuaries: Monitoring and Modeling the Physical System

Estuaries: Monitoring and Modeling the Physical System
by Jack Hardisty (Author)

Estuaries are complex and fascinating natural environments, where constantly changing water depths generate rapidly reversing currents and transport vast quantities of salt, heat, and sediment on a daily basis. Estuaries: Monitoring and Modeling the Physical System examines these processes, offering extensive information about the geological evolution of estuaries, and details of bathymetry, tides, currents, salt and heat, and suspended sediment.

By carefully building a working...

Sediment Flux Modeling (Environmental Science and Technology: A Wiley-Interscience Series of Texts and Monographs)
by Dominic M. DiToro (Author)

Presents mathematical models for estimating and predicting sediment fluxes.
* Models provide sufficient detail and data to enable scientists in the field to reproduce the computations and use the models for understanding their own data.
* Provides computations directly applicable to developing modern water quality models.
* All models have been calibrated and verified using three large data sets.
