Excellent Resource by Anonymous (NY) 5 Stars

I am a psychologist that evaluates children for learning issues and have purchased many books within this field. This one stands out because it a nice mix of the theory and background of WM functions, but is also VERY hands on and practical. It provides clear definitions of working memory subdomains, as well as which subtests to administer using common cognitive measures (i.e. WISC-IV, DAS-II, etc.), as well as Memory batteries (i.e. WRAML-2, CMS, etc.). At the back of the book are also worksheets and charts clearly outlining what tests to use for each WM subdomain. There is also a nice chart which outlines which brain areas are responsible for each type of working memory subdomain. Lastly, there are also recommended interventions to improve learning. I find that the quality and usefullness of a book is measured in how often you go to it as a reference. And, with this book I find that I use it a lot (especially compared to some other books I have purchased on these types of topics). I highly recommend this book, especially if you do evaluations of youth.
