| The Wonder Years Portraits of Athletes Who Never Slow Down by John E. Sweetman (Southern California) 5 Stars July 10, 2009 I recently purchased "The Wonder Years" from Amazon.com after reading a positive review. It contains portraits of people in their golden years who refuse to accept the notion of "out to pasture". Instead of sitting quietly at home viewing life on the tube, they all chose to remain as physically active and competitive as possible until they simply couldn't. They are all vital positive individuals participating in every sport imagineable to the best of their abilities. Having passed the 60 mark myself, I was beginning to think I'd have to follow the path of couch, golfcart, and buffet line prescribed by past generations. The book made me pause and rethink what "golden years" should be all about. The books photography is stunning and I urge every dentist and doctor to have a copy in their waiting room. Every old person who stops by the house has picked it up and given a similar review. 5 stars from me for its photography and well written profiles.
| | Essential for Robust Control----and free by Rod M. Holland (Colorado) 5 Stars September 21, 2004 Essential for anyone who deals with robust control (or wants to). And as noted elsewhere, google the title, you'll find it on the web for free.
| | Out of Print? No Problem!! 5 Stars February 07, 2003 This book is a wonderful introduction to the more advanced ideas of control theory. But it is written with emphasis on classical control and transfer functions (which makes for a good introduction). The problem is that this book is no longer in print. However, the copyright has reverted back to the authors. And they have kindly decided to make the book available for free! Simply do a google search for "Feedback Control Theory", and you will find it.

| Optimal Control Theory: An Introduction by Donald E. Kirk (Author)
Geared toward upper-level undergraduates, this text introduces three aspects of optimal control theory: dynamic programming, Pontryagin's minimum principle, and numerical techniques for trajectory optimization. Numerous problems, which introduce additional topics and illustrate basic concepts, appear throughout the text. Solution guide available upon request. 131 figures. 14 tables. 1970 edition.

| Introduction to Stochastic Control Theory by Karl J. Astrom (Author)
This text for upper-level undergraduates and graduate students explores stochastic control theory in terms of analysis, parametric optimization, and optimal stochastic control. Limited to linear systems with quadratic criteria, it covers discrete time as well as continuous time systems. 1970 edition.
