Product Description
Develop your own counseling style using Corey's bestselling THEORY AND PRACTICE OF COUNSELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY. You will see the major theories of counseling (psychoanalytic, Adlerian, existential, person-centered, Gestalt, reality, behavior, cognitive-behavior, family systems, feminist and, and postmodern approaches) as they are used in practice through a case study focused on one client, "Stan." The case of "Stan" appears in each chapter so you can see how the theory presented in that chapter informs therapeutic decision-making. "At a Glance" charts pinpoint the major differences between theories in areas such as multicultural focus, basic philosophies, and limitations.

Outstanding Theories Book by A. Barnett (Alabama) 5 Stars

Corey's Theories and Practice book is an outstanding resource for counselors in training. I am currently taking a counseling theories class and this book has been extremely helpful. He gives hundreds of suggestions for further reading for deeper study into the theories. It is thorough and also gives application scenarios so that counselors in training can see how the different theories are applied during counseling sessions. I would definitely recommend this book to those who wish to become counselors.

Informative textbook, great site to work with. by S. Kelly 5 Stars

This book was required for my psych class however, it is extremely useful to describe and summarize the various theories of counseling. Whats better is I order the same book from Barnes and Noble's certified used book section and waited 5 weeks for what was supposed to only take 14 days. B&N were not all helpful in returning my money for the book I had paid for and never got, they told me I was on my own. Finally I got a refund. I ordered the book from Amazon and it came on time as it was supposed to. Amazon was like a dream to work with compared to B&N. Thanks Amazon you saved a student! I also will continue to use Amazon from now on!
