EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description This book introduces geophysicists and geologists to the technique of interpreting 3-D seismic data. The topics it covers include basic structural interpretation and map-making; the use of 3-D visualization methods; interpretation of seismic amplitudes; the generation and use of AVO and acoustic impedance datasets; and time-lapse seismic mapping. Written by professional geophysicists with many years of working experience in the oil industry, the book will be indispensable for graduate students, researchers, and new entrants into the petroleum industry. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 2 reviews)
| Excellent Coverage of Essential Topics by L. T. Denby (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) 5 Stars May 05, 2008 I bought this book, amongst others, in order to update myself on the essentials of 3-D interpretation whilst learning to use a 3D software package. I chose it as a reference text, before returning to work as a Geophysicist after a seven year break. It was just what I needed to refresh my memory! The book is easy to read, concise and well organized. It also has plenty of current and essential references on each topic which saved me a lot of research time.
| | Cheap way to get good books in good condition by Anil K. Malkani 5 Stars February 11, 2008 This is very good book on 3D seismic interpretation written in a very simple language.

| 3-D Structural Geology: A Practical Guide to Quantitative Surface and Subsurface Map Interpretation by Richard H. Jr. Groshong (Author)
This is a handbook of practical techniques for making the best possible interpretation of geological structures at the map scale and for extracting the maximum amount of information from surface and subsurface maps. The 3-D structure is defined by internally consistent structure contour maps and cross sections of all horizons and faults. The book is directed toward the professional user who is concerned about both the accuracy of an interpretation and the speed with which it can be obtained...

| Seismic Stratigraphy, Basin Analysis and Reservoir Characterisation, Volume 37 (Handbook of Geophysical Exploration: Seismic Exploration) by Paul P. Veeken (Author)
The interest in seismic stratigraphic techniques to interpret reflection datasets is well established. The advent of sophisticated subsurface reservoir studies and 4D monitoring, for optimising the hydrocarbon production in existing fields, does demonstrate the importance of the 3D seismic methodology. The added value of reflection seismics to the petroleum industry has clearly been proven over the last decades. Seismic profiles and 3D cubes form a vast and robust data source to unravel the...

| Principles of Sequence Stratigraphy (Developments in Sedimentology) by Octavian Catuneanu (Author)
Principles of Sequence Stratigraphy provides an in-depth coverage and impartial assessment of all current ideas and models in the field of sequence stratigraphy. Even though widely popular among all groups interested in the analysis of sedimentary basin fills, both in academia and in the industry, sequence stratigraphy is yet a difficult undertaking due to an overwhelming jargon and the persistence of conflicting approaches as to how the sequence stratigraphic method should be applied to the...

| Basic Well Log Analysis, 2nd Edition by Daniel Krygowski (Author), George B. Asquith (Editor), Charles R. Gibson (Editor)
Basic Well Log Analysis is a general introduction to common openhole logging measurements, both wire line and MWD/LWD, and the interpretation of those measurements to determine the traditional analytical goals of porosity, fluid saturation, and lithology/mineralogy. It is arranged by the interpretation goals of the data, rather than by the underlying physics of the measurements. The accompanying CD-ROM contains digital versions of the data from the case studies, a summary guide to the...

| Exploration Seismology by R. E. Sheriff (Author), L. P. Geldart (Author)
This is the completely updated revision of the highly regarded book Exploration Seismology. Available now in one volume, this textbook provides a complete and systematic discussion of exploration seismology. The first part of the book looks at the history of exploration seismology and the theory - developed from the first principles of physics. All aspects of seismic acquisition are then described. The second part of the book goes on to discuss data-processing and interpretation. Applications...
