EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Peripheral neuropathies are a large group of chronic illnesses that cause changes in your life far beyond simply damaging nerves. Sufferers often confront pain, weakness, depression, anxiety, fatigue and insomnia. In addition there are long term changes in roles and relationships. Dr. Berman tackles these psychological and social issues in Coping with Peripheral Neuropathy from the viewpoint both of an experienced psychiatrist and of a fellow-sufferer with neuropathy. He details strategies to deal with changing roles at work and at home. He explores relationships and sexuality. Dr. Berman lays the groundwork for learning to cope and improve your quality of life in the face of these chronic diseases. He draws on experience treating chronically physically ill patients including neuropathy patients, as well as his own experience of having a neuropathy for ten years. Many good references are included to expand your knowledge and provide additional help. |

| A BOOK FROM ONE WHO KNOWS by Eugene B. Richardson (Fort Lauderdale, FL USA) 5 Stars January 06, 2009 Dr. Berman's book of OUTSTANDING insights from a professional (psychiatrist - doctor) and a patient of CIDP shows clearly that he has walked the walk and because of that, he talks the talk. No one with CIDP should fail to read this book. Having lived with CIDP symptoms for 34 years before diagnosis and now going on 41 years of living with CIDP with the help of IVIg, I can tell you that this book is an INVALUABLE resource for anyone suffering from a chronic neuropathy or even any chronic illness. As a leader of support groups and a teacher, I plan on encouraging everyone to purhase this book and will be focusing on the book in lectures in Florida in 2009. Awesome resource. LtCol Eugene B. Richardson, USA Retired
