EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Authors Steven and Susan Zumdahl offer all the elements instructors need for their general chemistry course. They bring a conceptual approach to chemistry and integrate problem-solving skills throughout, helping students transition from theory to practice. A strong emphasis on models, real-world applications, and visual learning prevails throughout the text. The Seventh Edition seamlessly integrates the strengths of the Zumdahl approach through a comprehensive and interwoven print and technology program. Enhanced Sample Exercises, online homework problems, and Classroom Response System content help instructors assess conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills, while new animations and images support visual learning. In addition, Houghton Mifflin offers implementation services through our TeamUP program to help instructors and students get the most out of the text and its supplements. |

| Chemistry Textbook by Amy R. Wnukowski (PA, USA) 5 Stars October 01, 2009 This book is very reader-friendly. I find it very useful in filling in what I don't understand from lectures.
| | A Easy to Read Textbook by P. Chopson (Georgia) 5 Stars June 09, 2009 Normally, I would have thought a chemistry textbook would be one of the most boring books out there. When I ordered this book for my class I was pleasantly suprised. The text is very clear and relavant. Relavant in that it is full of connections to the real world. This is an excellent textbook and, as a college student, I highly recommend it.
| | Incredible by Tom Brannan (Pennsylvania, USA) 5 Stars April 20, 2009 There's so much information in this book. By far the best textbook I've read, in my life. It's easy to read and easy to understand if you take it step by step. It's the only Chemistry textbook I've owned so far, but it has really helped me understand it a lot better. I bought this used for 30 dollars, and it looks great. There is a CD that comes with this book as well, but you won't get the CD unless you buy one brand new. The book itself is 99% of the content, the CD is seemingly only used for visual demonstrations of things like Bonding and Atomic structure.
| | Went well with lecture... by Manda Bear (Southern California) 4 Stars March 03, 2009 I thought this book went well with my teacher's lectures. It was sometimes hard to understand when reading on my own, however I thought the book did a great job, covered a varity of topics. The solutions manual also worked quite well with it. Good book for a General Chem. class.
| | great textbook by Scott N. Stone (Washington,, DC USA) 5 Stars February 05, 2009 This book has been a pleasure for me. It has the basics, plus lots of sidebar and highlight material when you get bored with the basics. The problems follow from and reinforce the points made in each chapter.
The explanations are crystal clear. For example, moles are introduced by the analogy of buying jelly beans.... you have a pound of jelly beans and, knowing the weight of the average bean, you know the number of beans. Don't think it can get much clearer.
While I certainly agree with those who those who dislike overpriced textbooks, remember that God gave us amazon.com to deal with this problem. I bought the current edition for 1/3 the list price.
