| I'm Pregnant": A week-by-week guide from conception to birth by Shirley R. Winn 5 Stars October 14, 2009 My husband and I gave this book to our daughter-inlaw and son as a gift. They are expecting their first child. I have been told many times how wonderful & informative the book is and that they us it daily. SRW
| | Great information & pictures! by Amber (Wausau, WI) 5 Stars October 06, 2009 I really enjoyed the way this book was set up. Thick pages with colored pictures and easy to read format. Lots of great information!
| | It's ok by Melissa Inboden (Canal Winchester, Oh) 3 Stars August 13, 2009 I am pregnant for the first time and I bought this book. It has a lot of useful information. It really allows you to better understand what your body and baby are going through. However, the chapters are split up in 4 week intravals and you can pretty much read that in 20 minutes. I like to have something to look forward to reading each week. I also have Pregnancy Week by Week and I ready that thru my 1st pregnancy and am also reading it again. I would recommend that book over this one. I just didn't like how you read for the whole month just a few pages.
| | The only pregnancy book that doesn't make me scared... by LH (NY) 5 Stars July 30, 2009 This is the best pregnancy book I have read so far. This is our first pregnancy and my husband and I were trying to read up on it as much as possible. I used to get in a really foul mood after reading a couple of pregnancy books, like "What to expect" and "the Whole Pregnancy Book." I found that they don't explain some things very well, and the information only got me worried about this and that. For example, there is a chapter in "What to expect" about still birth. It talked about how to cope with it but gave no information about what causes it. The chapter freaked me out. So for a while I stopped reading any pregnancy books.
Then my colleague recommended this book, and I loved it. It's got nice, colorful pictures and pages. I loved the 3D photos of the baby. I also find the information neutral. Some of the books are purely from the perspectives of modern science, and some of my other books are very midwife-centered. I find this book being nicely in the middle. It gives you so much information about labor and postpartum care that I think I probably didn't need to pay the $190 for my birthing class at the hospital. This book has got all the information you need!
| | Covers The Basics by Patrice Infertility Warrior (Wisconsin, USA) 4 Stars June 11, 2009 A decent general pregnancy book (much better than What To Expect When You're Expecting.) I liked the photos and the open way different aspects are discussed. I do wish that instead of several weeks at a time being discussed, that the individual weeks would have been discussed seperately. If you are expecting, check out a beautiful motherhood pendant at www.lifemedals.com/mothernecklace - I love mine!
