Product Description
Over the last five years, there has been an explosion of bestselling acid/alkaline based diets. These have ranged from weight loss to diabetes management. While hundreds of thousands of people have gone on this diet that balances the pH level of your body, they have had to put up with the limited food guides contained in each book. Now, health experts Dr. Susan Brown and Larry Trivieri have created a complete resource for people wanting to widen their food choices. The Acid/Alkaline Food Guide offers dieters an easy-to-follow guide to the most common foods that influence your body’s pH levels. The book begins by explaining what the acid/alkaline of your body has to do with the acid/alkaline influence of foods. It then explains how the pH of foods, once eaten, may change in your body—as citric acid fruits, once digested, become alkaline. As complicated as this process is, the authors provide the guidelines for the analysis of the foods covered in the book. This section is then followed by a listing of thousands of foods and their acid/alkaline ranges. Included are insets and groups that can help the reader better direct their food searches. This is the first complete acid/alkaline food guide to include today’s modern diet. It will quickly become the first resource to turn to when preparing meals or ordering food.

Very Easy to Use by S. Emmerson (California, United States) 4 Stars

The "Acid Alkaline Food Guide" takes a simple, easy to understand approach to explaining the human body's pH system and the importance to one's health of remaining slightly alkaline. The first half of the book contains chapters covering the basics about acidity and alkalinity, while the second half of the book contains a food reference guide showing the degree of acidity or alkalinity that different foods have when consumed in the body. I found this book to be useful in gaining a basic level of understandig about the issues surrounding acidity, alkalinity, and the body's pH. The charts at the back of the book containing the food reference guide are a great help when trying to find out which foods are acid and alkaline, as no other pH book contains such a thorough list of foods and their effects on a body's pH when consumed.

Acid-alkaline food guide by G. Collins (TN) 5 Stars

The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide: A Quick Reference to Foods & Their Effect on pH Levelspurchased at Amazon.com In an effort to improve my health and lose some weight at the same time, I did a lot of research. The concept detailed in this book seemed to match very well with what I was trying to accomplish. Many unhealthy conditions apparently are brought on by acidic conditions in our bodies; this acidic condition can be reversed by diet. This book includes suggestions for lifestyle improvement and lists in charts the relative pH value of a multitude of foods. These values range from most alkaline to most acid and are given for individual foods. I found the book to be very informative and helpful. Following the guidelines for weigh loss has resulted in a significant loss for me of both weight and inches.

Ph diet by Dixie R. Pattison (LA, CA) 3 Stars

Arrived promptly. Have not read the book in full. I found the food list a bit contradicting with other websites and books. Got a bit confused on what really IS acidy and alkaline. Once I read more on it, I may learn more on what the authors' theories and studies. My recommendation would be for a customer to buy it (good price) and read up, do research on your own, compare to others, and determine for yourself. Our family is on an alkaline diet now, we go by some of the items on the list in this book, and just the little bit that we have changed has made a tremendous difference in health, energy and weight.

Authorative, but a bit conflicting with other sources by Joshua Davidson (Milwaukee, WI USA) 3 Stars

I had a friend who recently had amazing success on the "The pH Miracle" diet plan, and I have a history of moderately high cholesterol, so I talked with my doctor and decided to try the plan myself. This book appeared to be a useful reference to support that plan. Because I have a strong background in chemical engineering research, I was highly skeptical of the "claims" made by "The pH Miracle", and quite honestly, I found no substantial research to back them up; however, I did find a wide body of evidence supporting the benefits of vegetarian diets, so I am continuing my trial. Actual pH control of (1) the GI system, by secretions in the stomach and intestines, of (2) the blood, by the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the lungs under the contorol of respiration, and of (3) the urine to prevent the accumulation of acids and bases in the blood from threatening pH control by respiration, is much more complex then any of these authors addresses, and the research they cite is quite limited. One area of concern I identified is that many sources publish so-called acidifying/alkalizing food lists, and they conflict in many important areas. At least this book was based on a correlation (not actual experiments for each food) developed from actual research performed by the author. The book is also fairly complete, though it repeats listings under different categories to make itself appear like more information than it really is. Many of the other lists I have found track themselves back to research done by a german nutritionist in the first half of the twentieth century. I have not been able to find a paper to determine his experimental methods, but apparently, he was interested in human health and was given credit for training some athletes. In general, I recommend you continue your vegetarian pursuits, and take all this pH stuff with a grain of salt, or perhaps some potassium bicarbonate. Warmest regards, Joshua

Great book, it`s simple in language, short in length, and precise in the information. Leaves a good introductory picture of the importance of Acid-Alkaline balance in the body and shows in a precise and simple way a wide variety of foods and their effect on pH levels in the body. Recommended for those who want a clear and brief introduction to the acid-alkaline balance in the body and it`s importance to our health.
