EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description This uniquely readable, compact, and concise monograph lays a foundation of knowledge of the underlying concepts of normal cardiovascular function. Students welcome the book's broad overview as a practical partner or alternative to a more mechanistically oriented approach or an encyclopedic physiology text. Especially clear explanations, ample illustrations, a helpful glossary of terms, tutorials, and chapter-opening learning objectives provide superb guidance for self-directed learning and help fill the gap in many of today's abbreviated physiology blocks. A focus on well-established cardiovascular principles reflects recent, widely accepted cardiovascular research. The supplemental CD-ROM is an interactive, dynamically linked version of the book, which is organized by normal cardiovascular function and cardiac disease. Students may begin a path of questioning with, for example, a disease condition and then pursue background information through a series of links. Students can also link to the author's regularly updated Web site for additional clinical information. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 2 reviews)
| Okay by Keith W. Joyner (DC/PA) 4 Stars July 05, 2009 I hate my professor so much that it rubbed off on the book! BUt it's okay and does what it should.
| | Excellent Resource by C. M. Mulcahy (Shrewsbury, MA USA) 4 Stars January 20, 2007 I purchased this book to help me review for the cardiology section of first-year physiology course in veterinary school. Although the book focuses on the human heart, it has great descriptions of ion-channels, vector-loop diagrams, the cardiac cycle, neurohumoral regulation, and more with review questions for each chapter to help you learn the material. My only complaint is that the images are not in the beautiful coloring seen on the front cover but are primarily grayscale with a few red lines throw in. Regardless, the text and figures included were immensely helpful in improving my understanding of te material.
